Subject: Lyr Add: DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING? (Les Miz) From: Joe Offer Date: 16 Feb 05 - 05:52 PM For the record, here are the lyrics in English: DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING? from Les Miserables Music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, Lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer (1987) Enjolras Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song of angry men? It is the music of a people Who will not be slaves again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a life about to start When tomorrow comes! Combeferre Will you join in our crusade? Who will be strong and stand with me? Somewhere beyond the barricade Is there a world you long to see? Courfeyrac Then join in the fight That will give you the right to be free!! All Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song of angry men? It is the music of a people Who will not be slaves again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a life about to start When tomorrow comes! Feuilly Will you give all you can give So that our banner may advance Some will fall and some will live Will you stand up and take your chance? The blood of the martyrs Will water the meadows of France! All Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song of angry men? It is the music of a people Who will not be slaves again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a life about to start When tomorrow comes source: http://www.lyrics.ly/lyrics.php/Les+Miserables/Lyrics/Do+You+Hear+The+People+Sing |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Do you hear the people sing (Les Miz) From: John in Brisbane Date: 16 Feb 05 - 08:16 PM This is such a great chorus song, with a lovely harmony line, that I feel compelled to create an ABC for it. I'll let ya' know. Regards, John |
Subject: Tune Add: DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING From: John in Brisbane Date: 16 Feb 05 - 08:46 PM I'm not so certain that I have the 'correct' key signature here to minimise accidentals, but it seems close enough for folk music. You can copy and paste the notation below HERE, to either listen to the tune or print a high quality PDF image of the music. The vocal harmony is on the second/bottom stave. I was too lazy to incorporate the lyrics in the ABC notation. Regards, John PS If anyone knows how to embed a %%MIDI Pan command into the ABC notation that would make the harmony a lot easier to distinguish during MIDI playback. Sincerely, Gargoyle Chico - a decade late but... (btw - Thank You for posting the lyrics and chords) The meter and tune is almost "Jesus Loves the Little Children" , although it has also been compared to "Tramp, Tramp, the Boys are Marching" mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=85163 mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=78518 |
