I had the occasion to visit West Chester, PA tonight - the home of Mudcat Central. I know others have done so as well, but to meet Max in his own environment is just the best. When I told Max I would be in the area, he called me right away to make sure I was welcome to come to the open mic he runs with his compadre, Carl. The only way I can put it is that Max does as much for the local music community there as he has done for all of us here by creating Mudcat. The place was packed with lots of talented musicians, wonderful listeners, and an act by a doctor that must be seen to be understood. Well, "understood" is not the right word - you just had to be there. If I had to guess, though, whatever it was may soon become a regular feature at Max's shows. The highlight was the incredible duo of Woodpussy (Max) and Whistlepig (Carl) taking everybody on a tour of the country blues. To top it all off, I now own the brand new (less than 24 hours old) copy of the W & W CD - recorded live. I urge everyone headed anywhere near eastern PA to ping Max ahead of time and get together. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thanks for tonight, Max, and thanks, too, for all you do for us here!

WOW!! When do we all get a chance to buy the CD, Max? I miss hearing you on Mudcat Radio, as well as all of the others. It would be wonderful to hear you doing some blues, again!

Thanks, dw, for sharing with us.

Wow, that's a wonderful report. Hey, we could still have a PalTalk room, I have trouble with the nuts and bolts of it sometimes, because of my visual impairment, but i'd be willing to get the room set up and help moderate, if anyone wants to. Just PM me.

Anyhow, looking forward to hearing the cD, Max. :)

Hey Max! Just let me know where it's available, and I'll definitely pick myself up a copy! Hopefully, I'll see you at the open mike soon.

With some people having trouble with Paltalk, especially since XP SP2, I have suggested that Yahoo Messenger allows a similar room woth mics arrangement.

Thanks for coming dw, you are one talented man. We had a good ol' time didn't we? You gotta love it. We've known each other for years online and finally meet face to face. Awesome.

As for the CD, for know, I only give them out in person, so you'll all just have to come visit for one. If I had my way, I'd have a different mudcatter here every Wednesday to show these local kids how big the world of music is. Plus we're not sure it's quite ready yet. What do you think dw, is it ready?

There's a bunch of stuff going on lately, so I'll scoop you on it later…

Love ya DW, see you soon.

Max (and Carl if you are listening in),

I have spent the better part of today listening to the CD. Is it ready? Well, hell yes....I have already stolen a whole bunch of it!!! Now, ladies and gents, as I understand it, W&W recorded this cd by hooking a small portable mp3 recorder to the PA at "venue max" (because I am not sure how they spell Fennario there). The sound quality is great!! Leave it to Max. My guess is that you will hear a thing or two, Max, that you will want to change, but as it is, I find it tremendously engaging. BTW, folks, on some cuts, Max sounds more like Mississippi John Hurt than Mississippi John Hurt himself.

Max, I like your idea of giving it out in person. West Chester is a wonderful town. The people at the open mic are fun, super-friendly, and talented. So what are you waiting for, everybody? Have Max put you on the list and get there for the Wednesday night session. Oh, and btw, the coffee house is right around the corner from Iron Hill Brewery (which once served as the locale for Mudcat radio on occasion) - handy access for a post session refresher. I am personally on a mission to sample ALL their brews, so, Max....I shall return!

I have to thank Foolestoupe for pointing me in this direction... it's amazing! I have stolen them and will shortly be adding one or two to my collection!

DW - that's an amazing voice, like a cross between Bruce Springsteen and Louis Armstrong! Wonderful!!
