Dad would want you to know that he is in the hospital right now. His
condition is very serious. He loves his friends and fans so much, and, as he always says, he will never forget you. Please keep him in your prayers, and pass the word along that he is very sick right now. We will try to send updates as we can. Thank you for your prayers, messages, and support.

Please do keep us up to date, and please let him know how many fans he has here. His voice, his songs, his hard-driving rhythm and the superstar bands he played with are the essence of bluegrass music, and he is an essential link to many of America's finest musical traditions. i believe he was featured on a cut on a disc of Kinky Friedman songs..
and one that he wrote which a friend sang to me was:
cans and bottles. he learned it bedcause it had a word in it that he
had not evere heard in a song before...it talks about "my future is on ice" and something like: "the can is chilled just right..to the proper fahrenheit"

he was in bill monroe's band and has written many songs..
i hope he gets better...he has been fighting bladder cancer.
