All will indeed be well with the world, but just to cause a bit of extra confusion, Lynne may well also be in the Newt, and the Radway, and will definitely be running the first Friday evening session at the Volunteer!

It's all looking good. See the latest newsletter at www.sidmouthfolkweek.org.uk - you will need Adobe to see it it all its glory.

And there is also the opportunity to join the Supporters group so if you are Sidmouth supporters sign up and get a few benifits/discounts.

How can there be confusion, if the Rugby Club are doing parking this year then Sidmouth is definately on. Leadfingers will be in the Newt, Lynne will be in the Middle Bar and all will be well with the world.

Drapers of Norwich,

Sidmouth Festival WILL be different this year, but not in regard to the friendly atmosphere. As one of the regular contributers to the session scene around the town, I promise you that you will enjoy the week as much as ever in the past. If you have any doubts, put them aside and come to Sidmouth.

The bickering, and negative comment, you have been exposed to over the last few months has, with a few exceptions, been the work of people who wanted to punish the Sidmouth traders by depriving them of the income from the festival (a singularly counterproductive plan of action). They will not be likely to advertise their presence, if in fact any of them come.

The rest of us, who want to preserve the festival, will be there to ensure that you all receive the warmest of welcomes, the best of live folk music, and a host of pleasant memories to take home afterwards.

Drop in to the Bedford Hotel sessions, and look for a big, ugly folkie with WYSIWYG printed across the scratch plate of his guitar, and I will welcome you personally.

I do so hope you will come.

Kindest regards
Don T

Thanks Kate for clarifying the Bellowhead situation.

I see my favourite band are also appearing at the Trowbridge and Eastleigh Festivals - the latter in the same week as Sidmouth and with a better line-up so I may go there this year.

Sure anyone still travelling to Sidmouth will have a great time at the Bellowhead gig even if there's far fewer other concerts than in past years.

Bellowhead blew the dance marquee apart last year. They were my highlight of Sidmouth 2004.

Don't know why there are so many arguments over Sidmouth this year but it's certainly putting this family off attending.

We just don't know who to believe.

Other festivals look likely to be more friendly and welcoming.

If the Bellowhead fan cannot figure out for themselves that a website might need to be updated they must be sadly lacking in mental faculties.
By the fans own admission one site said confirmed and the other to be confirmed, do you really need to be a rocket scientist to conclude that one hadn't yet been updated

Dunno, Greg. The folk world is very inclusive, but that lets some right cases in. One could base a PhD thesis on Psychology on a study of Mudcat messages, I reckon.

What can the motivation be of someone trying to destroy a folk festival(remarkably ineffectually). Odd, isnt it?

More confusion.

The Sidmouth website says Bellowhead are confirmed for Sidmouth 2005.

The Bellowhead website says the Sidmouth date is still to be confirmed.

Who is telling the truth and who is telling porkies?

Yes, it was the official festival website which is very well-designed.

I also keep an eye on the "Seered" website though which is also very informative even if some of the news is not helpful to the team trying to keep a Sidmouth Folk Week going.

By contributing £5000 to the festival, they ARE contributing to the main Folk Week. They decided that since there is going to be a Folk Week ( which they support wholeheartedly) they were particularly keen that it should continue to attract families, so they have made their grant specifically for children's events. £5000 is welcome wherever in the festival it is going to be used. It's likely that this will fund one or more children's marquees in Blackmore Gardens.

From: GUEST,Town Crier

I've just been looking at the well-produced website for this year's Sidmouth Folk Week but am concerned to see that the much-applauded £5,000 grant from the town council is for children's events only.

Does this mean the town council are still not contributing funds to the main Folk Week?
