Subject: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: The Shambles Date: 23 Feb 05 - 02:06 AM I have made a start on the song - perhaps others would like to continue it? Camilla and Charlie were lovers Lord how they did love Swore to be true to each other No matter who they had to shove She had a man And he had his throne Camilla was an old nag Many times round the track Well Charlie he didn't care But he needed a young brood mare He had a choice But he wanted it all. |
Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: The Shambles Date: 23 Feb 05 - 02:51 AM Can whoever placed the prefix 'Song Challenge' before the title that I chose for this thread please remove this prefix? This thread is not a 'Song Challenge' and as far as I am aware the choice of using a prefix (or not) still remains an option for the poster. If anyone else wishes to change this - perhaps rather than simply impose this change - the origination could be asked for their opinion first? Thank you.
The Forum Menu is an index of the threads, and should give an idea of the contents of the threads. If you want to turn this thread into yet another complaint about the way the Mudcat volunteers do their work, then it will end up in the "BS" section. You can let me know your choice by personal message. I don't see that adding a thread title tag is anything to get upset about. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: GUEST,Prince Heathen (guest, cookie lost) Date: 23 Feb 05 - 09:22 AM Apologies, Shambles, for not following the suggested template, but my thoughts headed off at a tangent (as usual!) – but a 'starter kit' for a song to suit the 'occasion' could begin with the track listings on the albums by Queen (No, not THE Queen, obviously). I've left the albums in chronological order, only left out the odd 'live' one due to needless duplication of titles. I've left all the titles in the original running order (some aren't appropriate but it seems weird how appropriate so many of them are! I'm sure a little more time pruning, rearranging the order and inserting the odd word to make things flow would produce a fine song – some verses from Charles to Camilla, vice-versa, and from THE Queen to them both. Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: Nancy King Date: 23 Feb 05 - 06:13 PM I think the thread should stay above the line and be titled "Parody: Camilla and Charlie were lovers." Only my humble opinion. And thanks for the giggle, Shambles! Nancy |

Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: Amos Date: 30 Mar 05 - 07:04 PM Save us from six foot posts about queens, eh? Anyway, Joe, I feel strongly that the Song Challenges are in fact one of the Mudcat's most interesting musical traditions, and in no way are they BS in either the general sense or the Mudcat sense. I am perfectly happy with a new prefix. Perhaps it can be added in to the dropdown for prefixes as a standard form. Tyhhere are over 80 such just from the classic formula that Áine used, let alone the random ones here and there. Amos |
Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: The Shambles Date: 31 Oct 05 - 05:02 AM As the happy couple are about to officially grace U.S shores - this thread becomes topical. I have made a start on the song - perhaps others would like to continue it? |

One just for appearances, The other, well you know! Diana was a lovely girl, Who tried so very hard. But Charlie had his own ideas, He was a royal 'card'. Time passes by and you may ask... How long is a piece of cotton? We all move one but one things sure... Diana is not forgotten. |

Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: Georgiansilver Date: 31 Oct 05 - 02:09 PM The Prince of Wales in the 1930's gave up his throne for Wallis, That he had to do this thing is enough to make one vomit. So Edward gave up his right to the throne so he could marry Wallis. But Charlie the current Prince of Wales....married a look-alike for Grommit. Is that better? |

Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: Peace Date: 04 Nov 05 - 10:22 PM I don't think about them all that much, tell ya the truth. I am glad that ol' Charles found someone to love and share his life with. I harbour him no hate--nor do I dislike Camilla either. People have tended to place Di on par with the angels, but she wasn't really. Just another human like the rest of us. As to slagging two people who are experiencing some moments of happiness--hell, good for them. Wish it was happening to more, worldwide. |
Subject: RE: Song Challenge: Camilla and Charlie were lovers From: Cluin Date: 04 Nov 05 - 11:10 PM Charlie was bidin' his sweet time A-waitin' for mama to cack Mama di'n't care much for Cammy But Cammy was good in the sack I mean, she must be Coz Charlie kept her along (I've got nothing against them either. In fact I kind of admire them in a way. But I figured I might as well play anyway.) |
