Subject: Lyr Req: Dancing With Tears in My Eyes From: GUEST,Andy Date: 26 Feb 05 - 05:32 PM Wish I could find the lyrics/chords to Dancing With Tears in My Eyes. Leadbelly sang it; doubt he wrote it. Think it was in the Library of Congress Recordings. Only words I recall are: Dancing with somebody new When it's you that my heart is calling to There is a song, Waltzing With Tears in My Eyes, by Cowboy Copas, but it was from the late 40s. Not too likely Leadbelly picked it up that late in his life and modified it. All the Best, Andy |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Dancing With Tears in My Eyes From: Joe Offer Date: 26 Feb 05 - 05:52 PM Hi, Andy - haven't found it yet. It's on his "Last Sessions" CD's. It isn't in the Oak Publications Leadbelly Songbook. I think it's probably the 1930 pop song by Al Durban and Joe Burke, popularized by Rudy Valee. Mantovani recorded it (probably an instrumental), as did Peggy Lee and Kate Smith. Englebert Humperdinck, too - no doubt, that's the version I heard. -Joe Offer- |
