Judy Garland recorded Bei Mir Bistu Scheyn (not necessarily with that spelling)
for one of the Andy Hardy movies. It was cut from the movie, but it's still around,
and I'm looking for it. Well, I found it on a CD set that has dozens of other
Judy Garland recordings, but it sells for more than I want to pay when I really
only want the one track. Maybe I'll see it on a remainder table someday....

Jude .... the album Contraband is known as Live Band #1, recorded (live of course) at Pasadena Civic Auditorium. It's a bootleg release from 1970.

Did Ed McCurdy's various albums finally make it to CD? I let them go in a shrewd estate settlement because I thought I could replace them easily, only to find that I couldn't. Last time I looked, they were still out of circulation (and not rendered to CD).

Joe Byrd and the Field Hippies one and only album The American Metaphysical Circus. In all seriousness this was a very tasteful album for it's time. It was released in 1969.

only got them on cassette.
and lost the tapes years ago..

[particularly live at Berkely..]
but only if i can be assured they're good quality

I'm looking for a Rudy Vallee 78 with "Tattooed Lady" and "Tavern in the Town" on it recorded in 1934. I managed to miss nailing it on eBay a few weeks ago for $15.

An album I had owned in the 60's was "Boss Guitar" by Wes Montgomery. I lent it to someone in 1968 and never got it back, and as it was on the Riverside label it was never re-issued until recently. I now have it on CD with bonus tracks after 35 years of searching.

You never know. Collectors Choice Music reissues a lot of unusual stuff... I was looking to replace my Kaleidescope album but never could find it as a reissue. Now Collectors Choice has a 3 CD set for $21.95 that includes all FOUR of their Epic albums...

I also have picked up stuff on eBay... got all three Pennywhistler albums on vinyl for something like $15 total. I don't know that any of them have been reissued.

Bill, I've got THREE albums by Walter Forbes, including the one in question.

Folk Song Festival RCA Victor 2670, 1963
Nashville Coyote JMI 4005, 1973

I saw Walter Forbes in person at the Grand Ol' Opry (I still remember that he did Cumberland Mountain Deer Chase!) and was mightily impressed. When I saw 2472 in the stores, I really wanted it and always intended to buy it, but money was tight in those days right after college, and I delayed too long. All of a sudden it was gone, and though I looked everywhere, I had no luck. Periodic searches over the years came up empty. Then two or three years ago, I saw the lot on eBay, and really jumped. I am not sure anymore, but I think I may have paid $15 for the three of them.

At the moment, my equipment is not set up for ease of duplication, and I can't honestly say when it will be. We'll work on it.

One you and I have discussed before, Bill, was the second Perry County Music Makers album on Davis Unlimited. Still no luck on that one.

There are others, but that's enough for now.

I finally found information about a recording I've been looking for for about thirty years. It seems that a white Southern Gospel a cappella group known as the Harmoneers are responsible for the song that I've been searching for, "The Hallelujah Boogie". I suspected but could not remember that it was an RCA label 45rpm. I did remember that it was a green translucent record. I also found that is was recorded in the early 50s and that it is RCA #0321, but still have had no luck locating a copy.

Tops on my list was Skokiann by the Bullawayo Sweet Rhythm Band. It took me close to 30 years to finally find it re-issued. Don't Go To Strangers by the Orioles took even longer. The only re-issue was on a Boxed set of everything they ever recorded, which sold for something like $160. All the other collections left out Don't Go To Strangers. Finally, I found an import "Best Of" that has the recording on it. It sounded as sweet as I remember it, when I finally put the CD on to play. The original recording of The Mockingbird by the Four Lads has never been re-issued, but I still have my 45 rpm and a re-recorded version that isn't as good on another "Best Of" collection. Today, I ordered a not yet released CD of the Four Lads which has Harmony Brown on it... another recording I've wanted to hear again for years.

That leaves

Guitar Boogie Shuffle by the Supersonics (later "covered by the Ventures)
Bluebird Over the Mountains by Ersel Hickey
The first Insect Trust album, which HAS been re-issued but is a little pricey for my tastes

I'm sure a couple of ohers will come to mind.

Are there any recordings you've been looking for for years, and haven't found? Or found recently, as I have?
