My brother Paul, who lives in England, will be visiting Dublin this coming weekend with some of his fellow American schoolteachers. He asked me for advice about pubs, music events, etc., since he knows I have you fellow Mudcatters as an excellent source of information.

So I resurrected a few old threads and copied-and-pasted a number of messages. He followed up with a bit of his own internet research, and found a bit of bad news about one of the recommended venues, at this site:

Here's quote from the bottom of that page:

"Mother Redcaps is due to close it's doors for the final time after 245 years on 20th March 2005, as it is being demolished to make way for Apartments. How sad & insensitive..."

Paul will almost surely be there at some time during this weekend, most likely at the highly touted Sunday afternoon session. Since the scheduled closing date is his birthday, he's already feeling a particular attachment to this old place. (245 years!)
