Subject: Review: Pat cooksey in Cologne From: alanabit Date: 04 Mar 05 - 04:07 PM I have just got back from the gig with Pat Cooksey, Sean Cannon, James Cannon and the German Irish band Stokes. Fine gig it was too. It was part of a promotion for the Irish Tourist board, but none the worse for that. There were several sets and even a couple of "pub sessions", away from the main stage so that we could hear these fine singers and musicians without a PA. I am sure that anyone who has met Pat and Sean will tell you that they are both gentlemen. The pleasant surprise was Sean's son James. He is likeable young chap and a very good singer, who could well carve out a path of his own. Pat writes simple, resonant songs, which carry well. Thanks everyone for a very enjoyable afternoon. I will be stoppping by for that beer next time I am in Nürnberg Pat. Schöne Grüße an Brigitte! |
Subject: RE: Review: Pat cooksey in Cologne From: GUEST,Pat Cooksey. Date: 11 Mar 05 - 07:57 AM The tour is finally over, after four weeks, and 24 cities, we are all wrecked, but we had great fun. Very nice to meet Alan in Cologne, we lent him one of our guitars for one of the pub sessions and he sang a couple of very good songs, his own I think, also a nice and talented guy. |

Subject: RE: Review: Pat cooksey in Cologne From: GUEST,Jim Donald. Date: 13 Mar 05 - 07:11 AM The crowd photos are from Arnsberg, near Dortmund, I was there. this was not a Tourism gig, just Pat Cooksey, Sean Cannon, and the band,a huge hall packed full. Cooksey played a brilliant solo set and finished with his hits The Reason I left Mullingar, and the Sick note, to massive applause, of course everyone knew these songs, but to finally hear the author sing them himself was really special. Sean and the band were also really great, then for the last part Pat and Sean took turns singing Dubliners songs with the band, they were obviosly having as much fun as the crowd, they did at least four encores, what a night. I bought Pat's new C.D. Live in Franken, which is the region around Nuremberg where he lives, and this is also great fun, worth the price for his charming German alone. |
Subject: RE: Review: Pat cooksey in Cologne From: Gurney Date: 13 Mar 05 - 11:14 PM Pat told me earlier that he is likely to be in Oz and Auckland sometime this year. Family reasons, not a tour, but may be open to offers, so if you run a club, maybe you would like to contact him on his website. |
Subject: RE: Review: Pat cooksey in Cologne From: Pat Cooksey Date: 14 Mar 05 - 07:48 AM I will be in Melbourne from 28th April till 24th of May, staying with my son, during this time I will also visit my sister in Auckland. My son will organise a couple of gigs in Melbourne, if anyone down there has any ideas please contact me via my website. The main reason for my trip is to have a break and visit the family, but naturally I also like singing. Cheers, Pat. |
