Afternoon fellow catters,

I'm sure that someone, somewhere out in folkland, has a festival survival kit that would suit my situation.

Southern Ontario, Canada, early June, outdoor, covered venue

I had a glorious one of my own but it was, sadly, lost when my old hard drive gave up the ghost a few years ago. I've searched the ozone and found nothing that quite fit the bill. I hate to recreate what might be out there just waiting to be shared!

Can you help?

Please....the poster has to go to press within a couple of weeks.

merci

Jen

Some stuff here

Check under 'festival survival kit' (alphabetical order)

NB The poster named Rick Whitelaw is one of the greatest guitar players in the world, IMO.

Also, google

folk festival survival kits

There are a few sites.

A tankard and a spare toilet roll... that usually covers it.. unless you're talking about something completely different!

not sure what you mean.
but my kit would include
sunscreen, a low-backed chair,
instruments, refreshments, tent,
portable radio/tape deck as all
the festivals i attend have thier
own radio broadcasts. ice, ice, ice,
and strawberrie items,,,and tequila
strawberry shampoo, candles, pot holders,
soap, incense, clothing, lip balm, even
i have seen those who bring strawberry
condoms and (ah hem)lubricant/
strawberry jam, yogurt, windchimes,
magnets, hand lotion, etec.
because the festival(s) i attend
are www.strawberrymusic.com

I've never seen the point of flavoured condoms.... it would be like just chewing gum.

Unless the flavour lasts longer.....

Easier to get of the pavement/sidewalk perhaps, unless someone's still wearing them that is!!

Sit down with a drink of some kind for ten minutes, and write down everything you know you'll need. If you don't think of it in that time, you probably don't need it.

The only unusual thing I bring is spare tent poles. They make a flag pole, so I can find the tent easily. Other than that, I agree with Liz.
Tankard, toilet roll and single malt.

To preserve some measure of decency round here, I have shifted the discussion of flavoured condoms to the proper place. There is now a BS thread on the point of them, or any other useless thing that comes to mind.

LTS - flavoured condoms have their place. I once worked in an organisation that was involved with a sex workers project - As a major proportion of their work was oral sex the usual condoms with spermicide were pretty unpleasant. I once spent a very bizarre afternoon condom tasting to get the best flavour, a bit like wine tasting - well not very much like wine tasting really - but you get the picture!

PS Mint was the best !

A recognisable tent so when you are drunk you will get back without embarassment.
Apart from that a magazine or two for when there is nothing you want to see/do, soft drinks to stop dehydration when dancing (I personally prefer Apple or Cherry Tango), and the spare loo roll, unless of course you are good friends with the steward in charge of cleaning toilets!

Personally, as long as I have a tent, a sleeping bag, at least one of my guitars, stuff to make Tea with in the morning and a bottle of Vodka to drink in the food tent the night before after the pubs kick out, I'm a happy bunny!

thanks for the feedback...I guess I'll just have to cobble one together from all the suggestions. The festival in question is a one day affair and a lot of rookie festival goers are expected so even the obvious needs to be stated.
