Gypsy,

I think I am registered there. However, I have yet to figure out how to post. Seems they accept no registrations from Yahoo or Hotmail (and one or two others).

I haven't forgot you.

Bruce

I went to the link in post number two above. Gypsy, don't know where my head was at, but they will not be accepting any registrations or have their message board open until Mrarch 28. That is next Monday. Got my dates screwed up. SORRY!

They still haven't processed my membership. I will keep checking back to the site. They said they'd be back at the computers today. So far, zip.

Just another afterthought, the Commando archives probably have quite a bit of info on Vegas. They are highly thought of by classical players.

Gypsy,

I will register there on Monday. When I tried just now, it said that registrations were closed for the weekend. If you message me what you want posted, I'll get it on the message board for you.

Bruce

Gypsy, there's a Vega serial number list of sorts available at Mugwumps
, although it was compiled for banjos. If that B is really an 8, it might have been made between 1915 and 1920. AFAIK the cylinderbacks were first made around 1914 and continued until 1926 or so. Great mandolins. The one I had and traded for my Gibson A was loud, but not very complex in sound. There is some mandolin history available at the Mandolin Cafe, I think.

Sandy

We have a Vega cylinder back mando. A style. Am trying to determine the age of it......think it is back in the teens of the last century. Have numbers across the edge of the headstock: 3590B. Any mando addicts out there that might be able to help? Thanks, all.
