Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: woodsie Date: 28 Mar 05 - 03:07 AM Anybody got their new album yet? The release date has been delayed until 8th April however 10,000 copies were actually released through amazon. Need a link to a torrent. |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: Dipsodeb Date: 22 Mar 05 - 06:25 AM I'd definitely agree with woodsie's description. One minute your listening to a very mellow psych track and just chilling out and then just when your brain reaches a level of relaxtion your blasted into a minefield of heavy rock licks that might only last a few seconds and then go on to something else. Whatever it is, it isn't boring and I think we will be hearing more from them in the future. Apparently they have just brought out a new album. I am also going to see them at the astoria I'm really looking forward to seeing how they produce the same level of sound on stage. ~Debs~ |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: mindblaster Date: 22 Mar 05 - 04:35 AM Just heard one of their albums "Insignificance" - Bloody brilliant how come this band aren't so well known, definitely classic psychedelic stuff! |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: The Beast of Farlington Date: 21 Mar 05 - 08:14 AM They are what the UK's Classic Rock magazine would describe as prog rock. About as folkie as Kiss or Marilyn Manson. |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: GUEST Date: 21 Mar 05 - 07:22 AM They're in Nottingham next week, a friend of mine is going to see them, sadly my finances won't stretch to it! Never heard of them before but I'm always up for seeing new (to me) bands. muppitz x |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: Grab Date: 21 Mar 05 - 07:05 AM Your mates are wrong - Woodsie's description pretty accurate. I guess the best example is a modern version of Pink Floyd. I've not seen them live, but they're playing at the Junction in Cambridge soon, so I'm thinking about going and seeing what they're like on stage. So much programming in the songs, it's difficult to imagine it being done live, but it'd be fun finding out. :-) Graham. |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: GUEST,Mr Quill Date: 20 Mar 05 - 05:47 AM Dark Matter is a fine example of "far out spaced out groove" |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: GUEST,Hedgehog Bush Date: 19 Mar 05 - 12:27 PM My uncle's band! |
Subject: RE: Porcupine Tree (band) From: woodsie Date: 19 Mar 05 - 03:22 AM Yes a great band, haven't seen 'em live yet. I'm going to see them at The Astoria in London. I wouldn't really call them folk or blues though, more trippy ambient prog metal indie... in fact a bit of everything except folk & blues! |
Subject: Porcupine Tree From: mindblaster Date: 17 Mar 05 - 04:47 AM Anybody heard of this band? Some of my hippie mates are going to see them in April and they want me to go. They say that it's folky blues stuff. |
