Is anyone familiar with this site. It's highly recommended, but I want to find out more about it before I set up an account :

Motagator Music is open to all genres of music, but specialises in Cajun, Zydeco, Folk Roots and Blues, meaning that Artists and Bands with tracks of these genres will be favoured should any marketing, promotional or administrative decisions arise.
More Artists and Bands are Always Welcome (any genre) - REGISTER ONLINE for a new account, select a website theme, upload your words, pictures and music, and be online within minutes. Even if you already run your own website you can still take advantage of Motagator's facilities for Secure Online Shopping to sell your CDs and merchandise, or you can build a Custom Radio Station to stream your (and other) music, or you can just have your tracks available for streaming or downloading on demand - 'deep linking' is supported here meaning that cross-referencing between Motagator and your own webpages is easy, and allows full use of Motagator's features.

After I read the above, I checked in at Motagator. I've opened a site within Motagator, called (what else?) Uncle DaveO. I've got two songs posted, which can be listened to, and which can be downloaded if you're so inclined. There's a picture of me, and a link to my website. I'll have another song or two at Motagator before long.

Motagator was plugged in here a while ago - a replacement for the Devils Music site which closed down !! Good if your interest is more Blues inclined ! I pop my head in occasionally .

I just read in their "new user agreement" that by signing with them you give them rights to perform, and distribute your work. So I was wondering if anyone here has ever dealt with them.

Mrs Pavane (Dawne Oakley) has been on Motagator for some time now. She is 3rd in the list of most downloads (last time I looked), and has sometimes dominated their charts, (e.g. numbers 1 to 7), helped, I suspect, by many Mudcatters!

She has stuck mainly to traditional folk songs for this site, some of which were specially recorded for Motagator.

Motagator is my website, so thanks for the comments here.

I initially started the site to promote the bands and musicians that I play with, or am associated with in some way. I then realised that it would be good to open it up to all so as to help others bands and to get to listen to some new music. The webspace and most of the facilities are free, but there is a modest annual subscription for those who want more webspace and want to be able to use all the site features. But from this, I only hope to cover the costs of running the site - I'm not 'in the business' as such.

Just to explain, the T&C is a 'standard' document that I used so as to cover all legal aspects of the site. However, I realise that this section of it is not relevent to what I'm doing and is maybe putting some people off, so I've now removed it.
So, feel free to register and upload your tracks etc.

Thank you Pasher, for clearing that up. From what I've heard from other people around (Mudcat, Audiominds, etc.) you run a very good and honest site. They also said you're very nice.
I was just wondering what the whole 'performing' thing meant...
