Subject: Songs published 1800's by Poets Box From: pavane Date: 21 Mar 05 - 07:50 AM I have noticed that The Poets Box, in Glasgow, included a list of new songs at the foot of many of the broadsides/song slips which they published between 1850 and 1880. For example, on the Parody on the Ould Bog Hole found in the Bodleian library are listed songs such as Babes in the Wood, County Down, etc. Before I waste time on the project, has anyone already attempted to list and cross-reference these? PS on the other slip on the same page there is a footnote about Thou Bonny Walks of Glasgow Green to the Air of the Bonny Woods of Craigielee - isn't that the Waltzing Matilda tune? |
