Thanks - I didn't think to have a search before I asked.

Mind, I see there are two different songs in there, the one with Farmer John, and what seems to be an older one with Betsy Dow. I wonder if the phrase had passed into common use from the earlier one, but the song been forgotten, and a new song written subsequently to give it a home?
