Here's a charmer I learned from a Doc Watson recording. I couldn't find lyrics anywhere so I transcribed 'em and thought I'd post 'em here. any corrections are welcome. If anyone's interested I'll post chords.

She's Gone Away
-Janet Smith

Early when the sun is yawning
And the morning's barely dawning grey
I just lie and think about her
It's another do without her day
She's gone away

Don't care much for breakfast anymore
With just my coffee cup to keep me company
Empty chair at the table, Lord I miss her so
Why she had to go, I don't know, I don't know

In the lowly blue of evening
When the turtle dove is grieving low
Me and my old guitar remember
The voice that used to sing those
Sweet and tender songs that we used to know

The music that we used to listen to
I can hardly stand it anymore
I've packed up her records and some other things she left
Why she went away I don't know, I can't say

Early when the sun is yawning
And the morning's barely dawning grey
I just lie and think about her
It's another do without her day
She's gone away

Good point, Jeep man.

I've looked into it and, strangely enough, when Doc introduces this song -- both as narrator to the DVD AND during the concert -- he very clearly says that Janet Smith wrote it.

Isn't John Bauman the real-world name of Mudcatter John Hardly?

Janet Smith is from the SF Bay Area and is credited with writing "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" after some legal action against Led Zeppelin.
