I have had quite a few requests for B&B's close by for people to stay in the night of the Handfasting so here are a few links...

The Handfastind will be takign place at The Black Lion Pub in Plaistow E13. E6 is nearby. There are a few catters staying at the F1 hotel in Barking which is a short taxi ride away.

There will be a session in the Black Lion on the Friday night from 8pm

I'm home all day except for picking up Limpit from school at 3.30pm. If folks who arrive early would like to come and drink tea, they are welcome.

As I'm catering for a whole flock of Ducks, I'm more than willing to make a huge communal pot of soup/stew/curry which folks are more than welcome to partake of if they so desire, before schlepping round the corner and up the road to the pub (or getting a lift with me!) for the session. If you wish to partake, please indicate in this thread.

Soup/stew/curry - could be three meals, could be one... you never know!

Linda, depending on whether the District Line is running, it's about 45 mins -1hour to Barbican. Sometimes they do essential repairs at the weekends and close the line.

The most time will be spent trying to work out which bit of the Barbican you need!

Tig ... I did start counting who had said they were coming and I gave up at 78...a good proportion of those are catters but there are quite a few of our friends from the Pagan scene here in London coming...

It is turning into a mini festival!...the Landlord said we can have the back bar on the Friday night for a session, the back bar and the hall all day on the Saturday and we can also have the back bar for a session on the Sunday if we want it....I said I will see how people feel about the Sunday!

Limpit and I have been to the hair dressers to have a trial run of having our hair put up...and they did a good job. Limpit looks absolutely gorgeous, she is going to look like a princess on the day.

I would prefer it if people refrained from coming skyclad....I don't think we could get the bail money together...it would inpinge on the beer money!!

I feel the same way about Pink, cats. I also had to live in a pink room as a child and I despised it. As soon as I could get away with it, I moved myself into the guest room and put up wall paper which made the room look like a cell (bumpy textured rock walls, very cool looking as far as I was concerned). I still have this amazing negative reaction to the colour and never wear it.

The Black Lion isn't THAT far from Stratford, but use a black cab from by either Plaistow or Stratford stations because some of the cab firms here are VERY unreliable when it comes to set times for pickups! Failing that, Manitas will be here and underfoot so he can act as taxi for you.

Should we be getting hazard lights and a fire blanket for the cake.. or would Resolve and a pint of water be better?!

Saturday night was the Hen Night...renamed Chicken Night and Micca had his Stag Do. What a wonderful night organised by Liz and Limpit. We met round Liz's then went bowling. Liz said she had never played before but somehow no-one believes her as she won! We then went on to Frankie and Bennys for something to eat accompanied by the chickens made out of rubber latex gloves by Limpit. Atfter that we met up with the Stag party at a cocktail party at Lady Penelope and Parkers! We got home just after 2pm escorted by Taffski and drank single malt whiskey. The amazing thing is and somewhat a miracle is that I didn't have a hangover and managed to be in the gym by 11am!! I hear that Micca had a civilized stag do.....not a word that springs immediately to mind when you consider there was Micca, Taffski, Manitas and Dave all together with a large amount of alcohol....they went wine tasting then onto a pub then a restaurant before arriving at Lady P's cocktail party which ended with everyone sitting round watching and singing along to The Rocky Horrror Picture Show.

There is just over 2 and a half weeks to go til the Handfasting and I was just going through the list of those who have confirmed they are coming and it looks as though there are going to be about 45 catters there plus about 30 of our friends who are not catters! It looks like it is going to be a mini festival with many people coming over on the Friday before for the session in the back bar of the Black Lion and there is the option for a die hard session on Sunday!

Starting to look forward to it all and the music and singing should be excellent!! We will have to make sure we take our camera and post some pictures here!

The football club is a short taxi ride from the pub...infact we can see it from the end of our street. I do know that my soon to be niece is staying there and few catters are staying at the F1 and the Etap in Barking.

To confirm:

There will be meatballs, rice, veggies & curry sauce, pasta bake, chocolate ravioli (if I get my arse in gear) and other eatables at Chez Draper, Map here, which although isn't brilliant, does show you roughly where we are in relation to the main roads. Most of the hotels are on the right of the A406 on the map in the paler shaded areas. West Ham Football Ground for those staying there, is just above Barking Road, on Green Street. The Black Lion is just where it says A112.

Food is free for anyone who wants to turn up but any contributions gratefully recieved.

Well that was useful. The map in the preview was fine... the map in the posting is missing the clever little pin that says 'Boundary Road'.

Chez Draper is immediately under the first letter N in London. We will find something scary to hang out of the bedroom window so you know you have the right house, but it is on the corner near the mini roundabout.

Reasonable. There is usually some space nearby, if not outside the house. It depends on where the next door neighbour has parked his truck and if his wife has taken up 2 parking spaces instead of 1.

There are no parking restrictions in the streets nearby, except for the normal ones for corners and roundabouts.

Well they've been and gone and done it!

Well it happened... it was wonderful and it was still going on when we left with a Limpit practically asleep on her feet!

Khatt looked stunning, Micca was (for once) pretty smart, Limpit was a picture (one by Picasso) and various other assorted Mudcatters appeared in various guises.

There are pictures, I'll send a selection to Pene to fix up, but I'm afraid the video didn't happen (due to the reluctance of the owner to 'faff about with it'....)

well. Friends. if you really feel You MUST get Hansfasted, this is the way to go. with Family and friends and lots of singing, a First Classs band (Cara) and some of the Very best UK Mudcat singers, then all you need is a good pub that serves very good real ale (and Cider) and take it from there, I have No idea what pictures are going to appear, as I was just a bit busy today, but leaving that aside, I couldnt have planned what happened, and it would not have been as good if I had, I am so grateful to all the Mudcatters who were present and contributed to this amazing, memorable ocassion, we both thank you all who attended, and who wished us well from other places, we have shared a unique expierience, and it was and will for ever be, enriched by your friendship and presence, The feeling of being cared for by ones friend is special

EmmaB and I got there too late for the ceremony , having been on a narrow boat 200 miles away at nine in the morning ! At least we got there before ALL the food was eaten , and all the beer drunk ! What a great day! I met even MORE Mudcatters..and all as lovely as the rest. The ceremony was wonderful, the clothes were fantastic (and I really MUST get to Campden Market!!). Sorry Morti, while Idris's bum in the leather trousers was a sight to behold, I'm afraid he'll have to concede defeat...Raedwulf is definitely Mudcat Male best bum! I got to sing with a group of females the song we sang at Miskin, which was totally different with the different group...I sang another song with Rock Chick which worked quite well and which we may repeat next weekend, Cara sounded brilliant as usual. The food was great, the cider was lovely, lots of hugs and cuddles (from both males and females). A generally enjoyable day, ending with eating pizza and ice-cream in Walthamstow at midnight. Just back from the pub where most of us were on soft drinks...apart from Micca, Manitas and Pixieofdoom....they're 'ard you know!!!

It was an absolutely wonderful day and I am so honored to know you all.

When we were cutting the cake Everyone stood sang for us...what a wonderful sight and sound. After that Micca sang The Way You Look Tonight to me....it was beautiful and there was not a dry eye in the room!!

Thank you to CARA for travelling down from oop north to play for everyone...they are brilliant. If you haven't heard them they are a must!!

The singing was great as were the outfits!

A big Thank You to Limpit you who was my bridesmaid and hand maiden. She looked like a Princess and did an outstanding job!!

Another Big Thank You to Mrs Duck for making the very alcoholic cake!!! It was gorgeous.

We didn't manage to take any pictures but I am sure some others will post theirs soon...there were alot of camera's flashing!

Thank you to all that came to celebrate and thank you for the many gifts. I was hoping to write to everyone personally to say thank you but there were just so many of you there I don't know where to start!

Hope to see some of you at The Yorkshire Gathering next weekend.

The chocolate cake was made by a lady in York who does it as a hobby. It was the top layer of the cake we had at the legal wedding in Yorkshire the week before. Glad you liked it.

Some thoughts from the weekend, now I can actually think again.....the bride, wasn't she lovely? And even the little fat uncle looked dashing...in fact everyone looked fantastic. The ceremony was wonderful and added to by the humour and jollity that no-one minds in pagan ceremonies. The singing of The Way You Look Tonight had me more than a little teary and then the wonderful Best Man's speech finished me off completely. I know she's my daughter, so perhaps I shouldn't say so, but my god, Pixie is funny and Micca's face when a long line of women 'gave back the keys to his flat' including one pregnant lady and several men......hysterical.

Cara were absolutely superb,the rest of the singers and musicians were too....and it was so wonderful to spend time with so many of our friends and family......thanks everyone. I won't make next weekend but I have lots of warm memories to see me through.

Hello? Can you keep the noise down? There was a reason I didn't make it to the 'survivors' session - it's 'cos I didn't...............

It was a very lovely do. The ceremony literally had me laughing and crying. Pixie was fab (the keys were a stroke of genius - she's a wonderfully warped person.....) It must be true love, as far as I know Micca has never sung romantic songs to anyone! It was definitely a 9/10 hanky moment.

Every one was just so brilliant. Singing "all around my spirit" with MBSLynne, Herga Kitty and the rest of the gals was just the bestest.

Idris' "Theopolis P Wildebeast' impersonation is going to stay with me for a while, all that kept running through my head was "well, it'll give Morty somewhere to rest her tankard".

I was stunned to find that the Black lion had a beer garden, never mind one that nice or large! I'll keep it in mind for future hangovers......

Oh, and Parker managed to get some fabulous piccies whic he's going to pass onto Micca & Cat.

Right, that's quite tired me out........ nurse, can I have some weak ribena please?
