Easy, Martin:

Isn't defending Marxism in america Anti-social behavior? EG: No

Isn't ridiculing Jews anti-social behavior? EG: Yes

Isn't ridiculing religion anti-social behavior? EG: Yes

Isn't sponging off the government anti-social behavior? EG: Yes

Isn't spreading AIDS through homosexual contact anti-social behavior? EG: yes, just as it is spreading AIDS through heterosexual contact.

Isn't ridiculing people with faith anti-social behavior? EG: Yes

Isn't censorship itself anti-social behavior? EG: Not per se; perhaps in some circumstances, but I can't think of any.

Isn't not showing respect for a president anti-social behavior? EG: No - respect is earned by behaviour and deeds only

Isn't using drugs and boasting about it anti-social behavior? EG: I'll sit on the fence onthis one; probably yes

Isn't getting drunk and boasting about it anti-social behavior? EG: Getting drunk, yes; boasting about it is just stupid

Isn't being a lying Mudcat Clone anti-social behavior? EG: If they're lying, yes

Do I pass?

You lost me on one single point, El Greko; I find it very easy to think of possible instances of censorship as anti-social behaviour; censorship can be directed against worthless cultural garbage, or censorship can be the suppression of essential facts or ideas that threaten the powers that be.

Not really. You got some right, but others are definately anti-social in my book.

you see, this is the double standard here. All of these anti-social things happen daily here, but slide through as Ha Ha.

Once was a time the Office of the President was respected because that person was elected by a majority of voters. Not any longer.

Using illegal drugs will get you a fine and prison time or both. Seems to me that is anti-social behavior.

ridiculing of Jews and Christians is a daily practice here. This is quite anti-social.

Ridiculing and censoring people who don't have the same political thoughts and tell people so with impact just hear what they want to hear which makes them, in my book, anti-social.

Easy Martin?

Censoring me is not easy.

OK, 8 out of 11 isn't bad - better than 75%. I'm ready for the advanced paper now. You know, the one that asks the questions about making scatological remarks, ridiculing Islam, ridiculing those who don't vote republican, making personal attacks etc. I've been studying hard, I'm sure I'll do well.

Defending Marxism is not. It is free speech, which is one of the basfoundation basis against Marxism, albeit arguably false. The rest are. Although, the way you worded some of these, to answer negatively might be misconstrued.

Isn't defending Marxism in america Anti-social behavior? Only to paranoid rednecks.

Isn't ridiculing Jews anti-social behavior? Not if you're Woody Allen. It's a living.

Isn't ridiculing religion anti-social behavior? Hmmm, the idea of God with no sense of humour has never really held water for me. After all, He created things like the duck-billed platypus, the star-nosed mole and willies to name but a few. Surely he can take a joke too.

Isn't sponging off the government anti-social behavior? Depends on how you mean. If you're able to work and are turning down offers of work left right and centre, yes. If you can't work, it seems preferable to starving. Oh and incidentally government funds are public funds. Yes, that's right. Public. To be spent (in an ideal world) for the publics benefit.

Isn't spreading AIDS through homosexual contact anti-social behavior? Where contraception is available, yes. EG already made the point about heterosexually transmitted HIV being wrong.

Isn't ridiculing people with faith anti-social behavior? A personal attack on someone who holds religious beliefs is wrong. So is forcing your beliefs down other people's throats and resorting to investive and threats when they object. Cuts both ways, in other words.

Isn't censorship itself anti-social behavior? Actually I tend to agree with you on this one. But then again, anti-social behaviour breeds anti-social behaviour, y'know.

Isn't not showing respect for a president anti-social behavior? I was always taught respect was something you earn. The gibbering cretin currently occupying the Whitehouse has done precisely fuck all to earn anyone's respect. I could pursue this, but pick up a newspaper and turn to the international pages. It'll save time.

Isn't using drugs and boasting about it anti-social behavior? No. Merely tedious and anyway who says you have to listen?

Isn't getting drunk and boasting about it anti-social behavior? See above.

Isn't being a lying Mudcat Clone anti-social behavior? Yes. Remove the telling word 'lying' though and no, it isn't.

Just my two ha'porth!

Too true- the U.S. president IS no longer elected by a majority of the voters. In point of fact, the current one was appointed by the Supreme Court.

First time Marty the Putzeleh has been correct in my memory- but then again, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Martin - I'm glad that you are trying to find out what antisocial behavior is. Somehow that part of your education is lacking.

You've laughed at my sons death. You've made jokes about a man in a wheelchair. You've wished that we could all see our children dead. Somehow I guess that falls under your definition of "free speech". So be it. I'm through hating you. You're a master of hate and none of us can beat you at your game. You win. Be proud. God loves you. I'm working on it too but failing.

May all of God richest blessings be on you and your children seven times over.

Man, geeze o'pete, when I opened this thread I was amazed to find it was started by the Catbox resident anti-social-ist (but not Marxist...).

Yeah, I took Martin's test and maybe got a D... or worse...

Who cares?

It's all definations and semantics...

I mean Martin can talk about "welfare" and in Martin's world that means black women driving up to the Social Service Departrment in their Cadillac to pick up a fat check for pumping out babies once like factories... Yeah that is Martin's world. In Bobert's world it's Boss Hog and the corporate fat cats who are ripping off the middle class...

And in Martin's world when he thinks of Jew hating that means anyone who would like the Palestians getting a fair break... But in Martin's world all he see's if the Palestian suicide bombers but not Isreali tanks and bulldozers crashing thru homes of Palestianians to make way for more Isrealu settlements...

As fir Marxism being anti-social? No, it is very much social becasue it empowers the 98% of the folks who ain't on Boss Hog's Xmas card list...

Now, lastly, as this thread was started by Mar-fu*k-you-tin his Mar-fu*k-you-tin-self I'd just say this....

...I rest my case.

Bobert

Isn't sponging off the government anti-social behavior?

Sometimes it is, and sometimes it's not. But making up stories and lying about people living off of government assistance when they are not is always anti-social behavior. As well as being gratuitous abuse.

No, Yes, Maybe, Yes, Yes, Yes, Not Necessarily, Hard To Say, Yes, Yes, Ummmm....well, I'm not quite sure about the last one...but lying is generally considered antisocial.

Regarding the first one, I would prefer a society that combined the best aspects of both socialism (or Marxism) AND capitalism, given the choice. That would make supporting neither one of them "antisocial". A society that is all one...or all the other...is kind of like a society that's all male or all female. It doesn't work all that well in practice.

I am living in a society that practices both socialism and capitalism, and it's really quite nice.

Martin, there are all kinds of anti-social behavior. That's not the point. Most people say offensive things from time to time - but most of the time, they get along with other people peaceably. You're just the opposite. I think you posted 25 messages yesterday, and twenty of them were combative in one way or another. When you're here, you're here for combat. It makes the place unpleasant for all of us, and we're not going to tolerate that any more.

I suppose I'll have to delete most of your messages at the end of the day today. You can expect me to do it every day until you stop attacking people.

This was not meant to be a test and I really don't care if you answered it or not. It was meant as nothing more than an opinion.

Wesley S. I did not laugh at your son's death. I don't know you and really don't care to. Your dirty laundry is really not my concern. There are a lot of tragic stories here and I thankfully do not feel that I am one of them.

For all I know, you and your wife are heroin addicts and you live with enormous guilt. Welcome to the Mudcat funny farm full of the dregs of liberal society. Druggies, social misfits, drunks, basket cases, drop-outs, and a lot of musical wannabes.

If that truth hurts, oh well. This is not directed at all here. Just the usual group. I'm sorry if I'm just to much for you to deal with. Please deal with the fact that I am in fine health, do not use illegal or prescribed drugs, have a great family, home, and fine job.

It's so easy for you to have a problem with that.

What I object to "Martin", as I have said all along to you, is your primitive envy and thus your need to destroy that which you most desire: entry into the group of mudcatters who are the most identified with what you desire to be and to have. This has been the basis for your online actions here all along.

If I were Max, I'd simply cut you out of the sight completely. And I would do it until you learned a great deal more about prosocial behavior and demonstrated it. Claiming that some mudcatters write you friendly email only means to me that you have made a fool out of them because they believe you are who you claim to be.

Joe, I have been combative because I am fighting for what I believe in and you are getting your kicks stifling it.

In short, you are operating on a double standard.

Joe, why don't you delete all of the combative and insulting Guest posts that are done incognito by many Mudcat posters?

Why don't you delete posts by Jew haters who insult Rabbis?

Why don't you delete posts that promote the use of illegal drugs?

Why don't you delete posts by morons like Big Mick with all of his anger and egomaniacal attitude?

Why don't you delete postgs by socialists that people who love this country find offensive?

You know why, Joe. Because you are a puppet, that's why.

And yes, I think a thread about homosexual songs is dumb for a folk music sight. Made a comment or two about it and then I moved on. And making up stories and lying about people being druggies, social misfits, drunks, basket cases, drop-outs, and a lot of musical wannabes is also anti-social behavior and gratuitous abuse.

You, yourself have said that you don't know Wesley. And you really don't know anything about him. And yet you are insinuating that he and his wife are heroin addicts. With no reason to even suspect this as a possiblity, even the act of mentioning it as a possibility is abusive. And that's what you do. You make up a bunch of incredibly libelous lies about people and spread them around as the truth. Then you use those lies as a way of justifying your behavior here. But they're still lies. And that makes you not only gratuitively abusive and anti-social, but also a liar.

Several times you have made up stories about one of our members being incontinent just because he uses a wheelchair. You have made up stories about me being on welfare (I am not on welfare... neither my husband nor I receive any financial assistance from the government whatever). You have made up stories about Wesley and his wife being heroin addicts. That is one of the most absurd accusations I've seen in a long time. These are all lies, Martin. It's you who is the social misfit. harpgirl has you pegged. You need to belittle everyone else because it's the only way you can feel good about yourself.

If I were to try to take a guess about you, my guess would be that you have at least one, possibly more than one learning disability that never got diagnosed (or at least that never got the proper attention), and that you never felt like you fit in with the people around you. So your way of dealing with it was to be the clown, and to mock people and belittle them and get some laughs from doing that so people would accept you and not make you feel like an outsider. If I were to take a guess, that's probably what it would be.

I think the main problem here is one which seems to be prevalent in the USA in particular. And I mean prevalent among REASONABLE people as well as the mindless shit-throwers. In the USA, I have noted, the majority of the folks don't seem to have the vaguest clue what it means to be "socialist". They are conditioned not only to spit venom at the mention of "Socialist", but also "Marxist" and "Communist". In ANY creed there is scope for those miscreants who would manipulate the current laws in furtherance of their own agendas. Nobody in North America, surely, has missed the recent spate of actions against just such skulduggery---and not furth of the borders of the USA! And those actions were made necessary because of some who saw a self-enhancing opportunity in the jungles of hardly-fettered capitalism. I never have been a political animal. And reading "between lines", I see like-minded contributers to this site. My role in civic society is guided by what I see as the MORALLy correct path. At least as much as the fair share of human frailties I'm 'cumbered with will allow. If someone points a finger and cries "socialist"!, then so be it. I have never been a member of any other party other than the Nationalist Party in my own Country, and that embraces all political colours.
If I see a human being in distress---even as a result of his own inadequacies---I hope I will always have the grace to stop, and try to help. I shall be rewarded by the improvement in their fortunes, or saddened by my own failure. But I will have a clear conscience. Is this "socialism", Martin?

Gee, Martin, you're almost as good at copy-paste as Shambles is. "What you believe in" has nothing to do with why your messages have been deleted - it's how you present your point of view. You do it in an intimidating, crude, combative manner.
Sorry, but that's not acceptable.
You've done better today, though. I deleted far fewer messages than yesterday. Still, you have your strange obsession with tampons, and I really can't let you go and tell some woman to get laid. There's no reason to attack peoples' sex lives, their disabilities or physical appearance, their spouses or children. None of that has anything to do with defending what you believe in.

it's a funny situation...the greater the number of people who disagree with Martin, his attitude and his style, the more combative he gets. It's almost as if he equates all these negative posts with persecution of Jews in general. I wish I knew...(and I wish HE knew!)

To Martin: You arrived here as a 'guest', making crude remarks and insulting people from the beginning, and after you 'joined', you just got worse. What you do is different in kind and different in degree than others who sometimes push the envelope in their remarks, and THEY have been edited and/or deleted at times. It is amazing to me that you have been given as much slack as you have. I do not know why anyone feels the need to make the remarks you have usually, with little or no provocation. You know enough about music and other stuff, (even hot dog styles), to be a useful, but opinionated member, but you persist in seeing if you can set new records for being offensive. I guess you managed, and you are seeing what happens when you act up on someone else's turf, no matter HOW righteous you feel. Not much else to say...

to everyone else...ESPECIALLY anonymous guests who seem to delight in responding to Martin: You are not helping by giving him ammunition for more remarks. Some of the responses TO Martin are ripe for censorship themselves! Give it a rest and let him dig himself in deeper, if that's what he's bound to do!

I sure wish I knew how to get EVERYONE to see what this all looks like and just play nicely together, but the Age of the Internet has done strange things to our ways of relating, hmmm?

Working my way down the list, I have to say it depends on how you do it.
Making fun of Jews can be anti social, if you're a Nazi. Or a full time career if you're Jerry Seinfeld.
Showing disrespect to the president can be anti social behavior if you're Lee Harvey Oswald, or a full time career, if you're any number of stand up comics.
Defending Marxism is an act of heroism if you're an ACLU lawyer, and a dirty deed if you are Lee Harvey Oswald.
Now I had a roommate at O.U. who was a serious drug user. Her behavior was annoying, sometimes seriously worrying. She was a world class pain in the derriere. But I would not call her behavior anti social. Sometimes it was entirely too social. Saturday and Sunday mornings I used to hone my detective skills helping to figure out where she'd been and what she'd done the night before. When she wasn't sober she wasn't picky about who she went to bed with, and she didn't always remember the next day.
In 1993 I broke my arm very badly. I was uninsured at the time, and wound up owing Shadyside Hospital $17000. I didn't have it. I didn't have any way of getting it. My sister deliberately put off settling our mother's estate until after the bill was settled. So I applied to the state for medical assistance, and got it. I don't have it now. But at the time, it settled a whopper of a debt, and got that *&^%!!! collection agency out of my life. I also have the use of my left arm, which makes it easier for me to earn my living. So I can't say I was sponging.

Most of us here all agree that you, and every other damn person with a mind that's capable of forming a viewpoint, are entitled to it. But you, who supposedly upholds that same principle, damn sure have a shitty way of showing it. Do you agree with Dubya, going around the country, spouting off about his Social Security plan, and attempting to bring pressure to bear by implying that anyone (in Congress) who doesn't support his plan will face political consequences? He may as well be saying, "You better agree with me, or else." I damn sure don't respect that. I suppose you think that the Democratic members of Congress are all anti-social, unless they cow-tow to that sawed off prick. If you are anything in real life like you present yourself to be in this forum, then you certainly are anti-social, but that's just my opinion.

How does a fish know what the ocean is thinking about? Does the ocean worry about the fish? Does the ocean get mad if the fish doesn't worship it or believe in it? Does the sky get mad at the little gray cloud that decided to rain?

Naw....only people get mad at the little gray cloud, because they have a frikkin' agenda, and not much patience either. :-)

Said one fire ant to the other fire ant after they both bit Martin Gibson in the balls, "Bleaugh!! Now there is a bitter man!"

ya' know...I agree with all that, LH...and since I DON'T know, I choose not to speculate and toss prayers and pleas for 'blessings' about as if I could expect that my little wishes would affect it all.

I don't know what's out there-
I don't know if anything knows I'm down here-
I don't know how 'it' could affect me if either of 'us' knew about each other-
I see no obvious pattern to events that would enlighten me so I could know---
I see all those who DO claim to know taking widely divergent positions and arguing with each other....and unlike the Red Queen, I can't bring myself to believe six impossible (or contradictory) things before breakfast.

There used to be a political party in the US called "The Know-Nothings". Maybe we need it back   ;>))

Kendall hit it dead on (12:28 PM) on this thread.

It would be truly fascinating to see just how many of his wonderful contributions the courageous iconoclast (look it up, "Martin")---( in his own mind)-- behind "Martin Gibson" would make if he had to sign his own name to them. Who knows, we might be lucky--he'd stop the vile postings---- (see Carol C's post of 30 Mar 2005 9:45 PM, a great summary of his MO)---and content himself with the disgusting ones. That would be progress.

Anonymity can be, as it is for some, a shelter from a possibly cruel and even dangerous world. Or it can be a screen to hide behind and hurl vicious and revolting remarks at passersby, secure in the knowledge--until the advent yesterday of the "bleep regime" --that the poster will never have to take any responsibility for anything he says. No question where "Martin" fits in here.

One thing however-- there is no doubt that "Martin" is synonomous with "common snese" (sic)---(see his own comments on Proud Citizen thread).

Gee Martin, the following seems to be a pretty good description of your most honored and respected leader, GWB. He's not worthy of anyone's respect and it worries me that you and others give this bully so much power.

The DSM-IV Diagnostic Criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder include:

A. A pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since the age of 15 years as indicated by at least three of:

1. failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviours as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest;
2. deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;
3. impulsivity or failure to plan ahead;
4. irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults;
5. reckless disregard for the safety of self or others;
6. consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behaviour or honour financial obligations;
7. lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalising having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.

B. The individual is at least 18 years of age.

C. There is evidence of Conduct Disorder with onset before age 15 years.

D. The occurrence of antisocial behaviour is not exclusively during the course of Schizophrenia or a Manic Episode.

Ron Davies,

for info: "iconoclast" is of course a Greek word, meaning literally "icon breaker", as the second part of the word means "to break" in ancient/Byzantine Greek. In contemporary Greek however, it means "to break wind". So in contemporary language, an iconoclast is someone who farts at icons.

Apt, I thought 8-)

As far as respect for a president goes, this "president" has yet to earn it. It begins to look doubtful that he will. The only thing he has proven so far is that, rather than being the gibbering idiot portrayed often on Mudcat, he is in fact a brilliant demogogue, in the grand tradition of one in Germany in the 20's and 30's--perhaps you've heard of him, "Martin"?--along the lines of "The US is crawling with terrorists and homosexuals--and be sure to watch out for those homosexual terrorists".

Perhaps closer to home, a role model could have been Father Coughlin--not Huey Long--Huey actually had some good ideas, and was a real complex character.

Sorry for the thread creep.

Bill D.........We've known each other here for over six years and I don't know why I should be surprised that I could have written your last post almost verbatim (I'd not thought of the Queen ref).

BTW, in one of Carlin's recent routines he talks about now praying to Joe Pesci with about the same results as he had before.

Isn't not showing respect for a president anti-social behavior?

Seems to me that the folks who complain the loudest about not showing respect for Dubya are the ones who showed no respect at all for Clinton.

Showing disrespect for the Prez when he's not your guy isn't just not anti-social, it's the national pastime.
