Subject: RE: Is there a folk club in Exmouth? From: GUEST,SteveT Date: 01 Mar 11 - 04:27 AM Plenty going on within a few miles of Exmouth - see the website http://www.2leftfeet.co.uk/ and look at the "Diary Dates" for the more "organised" clubs and singarounds - but also check out the "Folk Song Clubs" and "Music and Song Pub Sessions" which give details of the regular but more informal events, some of which are not also shown every week/month in the diary dates section. For proximity and regular varied "club" types I'd recommend Tug the Cox's Exmouth club (see above), the Lympstone one or the Topsham one (both accessible by train from Exmouth); but also, for excellent traditional songs, try the ones at Sidmouth and Ide and for music with little or no song try the sessions in Exeter (alternate Wednesdays, English/mixed), first Thursdays in Topsham (English), and alternate Thursdays in Exeter (Irish). All of these are within about 8 - 10 miles of Exmouth. |

Subject: RE: Is there a folk club in Exmouth? From: Herga Kitty Date: 01 Apr 05 - 03:11 PM Tony Day says that there's a club run by a story teller (Jenny Moon)and frequented by Paul Downes at the Swan Inn, Lympstone (next to the railway station) on the first Wednesday of the month - stories, songs, poems and tunes all welcome. There's a session in the Bicton Inn, Bicton St Exmouuth (off Rolle Street) on the first Thursday of the month. Usually half a dozen musicians and the odd song. Kitty |
