Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 20 Jan 08 - 08:04 AM Well actually, using V2.0.0.11 on Win98SE, I have a 'weirdness' - When I go to 'Options', I only get 4 tabs - I can't set the Font size, well as a lot of other options - which I can do on the Linux version. I wonder if something is broken. I have tried web searches, but found nothing sensible and relevant. And yes, I did get caught on the 'stuffed options thing' and sorted that mess out. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: gnomad Date: 20 Jan 08 - 10:55 AM Foolestroupe: It should be under tools>options>content>fonts+colors>advanced. I'm on v2.0.0.11 also, but with an Me machine, it is there on an xp as well. Funnily it doesn't work as I thought, until I read that it is a minimum size which is being set, so presumably if the website specifies a size larger than your setting then the site settings will be the smallest you can display. Don't know if that helps any, but I hope it may. PS, What is the "stuffed option thing", it sounds nasty? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: katlaughing Date: 20 Jan 08 - 11:00 AM Not sure what you mean, Fooles. When I go to Options, the only place I get tabs is in the Advanced and then there are only four. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 21 Jan 08 - 06:53 AM "It should be under tools>options>content>fonts+colors>advanced." I only have 4 under tools>options> 'General Network Update Encryption' - no Fonts... or Advanced, or anything else. "What is the "stuffed option thing"" Sorry - meant "Add-ons" - it used to happen that the whole list of what add-ons were installed would get messed up and the only way was to go to a couple of sneaky little files and delete them, on reloading Firefox the thing would rebuild itself by examining just what add-ons are actually present and writing out a new lit of installed add-ons file. I think something similar to the 'add-ons' stuff has occurred, but can find no trace of any help. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 21 Jan 08 - 06:58 AM BTW, all those other options were there when I had Ver 1.5... but it ain't now... |
Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: gnomad Date: 21 Jan 08 - 07:45 AM Thanks for explaining the stuffed options thing, Foolestroupe, something to watch out for, but I seem clear for the moment. I'm puzzled by what is happening with your options though; when I click options a square box appears with a line of 7 icons at the top (main, tabs, content, feeds, privacy, security, advanced) clicking the last-named gives the set of tabs General, Network, Update, Encryption, that you are getting. Being no techie I'm at a loss to explain how a step could go missing like that. Maybe a new download and clean re-install might fill in the missing bit? Or perhaps a visit to the users forum is in order? |
Subject: RE: Tech: Firefox browser questions From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 22 Jan 08 - 04:48 AM "a square box appears with a line of 7 icons " Mine (V2) only has the 4 I stated. V1.5 had the lot. |
