Subject: RE: Check out Coco Jams!!!! very cool, Azizi From: PoppaGator Date: 14 Apr 05 - 10:10 AM This is the first I've heard of this, too. Of course, none of us read every post in every thread (except maybe Joe Offer), so I couldn't say for sure that Azizi has maintained absolute silence about this project. However, she certainly hasn't done much promotion of Coco Jams ~ perhaps out of excessive modesty? Thanks to harpgirl for pointing this out to us! |

Subject: RE: Check out Coco Jams!!!! very cool, Azizi From: GUEST,Azizi Date: 14 Apr 05 - 01:23 PM Well I'm surprised to see this thread! Actually, I found out about Mudcat as a result of Q's visiting CocoJams in 2002. Prior to February 2005, CocoJams's focus was the presentation of selected examples of African American children's rhymes and secular slave songs. The examples also included brief commentsthat I had written about the possible sources of the rhymes, performance styles & directions, etymology including slang and folk etymology, suggested psycho-social meanings of the rhymes etc. In February 2005, I kept those pages, added a few more examples of African American children's and adult's rhymes and chants, and began to include 'posts' and 'Mudcat re-posts' that focused on folk's memories about their everyday experiences. Most of the re-posts are those that I wrote on various Mudcat threads. All other re-posts are used with the prior permission of 'Catters, or are from non-member Guests without seeking prior permission {as per my discussion with Joe Offer}. I have not promoted CocoJams here {or elsewhere} because it is still in development. But thanks for the compliments. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. BTW, This website was designed and developed with largely volunteer technical support from a friend, Lucas Musewe. The concept and much of the content is mine, but I really didn't have a clue how to do anything technical. There's still a great deal about computers I don't know. For instance, I was just told that I have a problem with my Windows application and that I need to back-up all my files as they will be lost because a new Windows program needs to be installed. And then all my other programs need to be installed again. What??!! I'm in total panic here, and have placed a called to Lucas but have yet to hear from him... That's why I'm writing as Guest... So hopefully, I'll be able to still visit Mudcat from the comfort of my home..but....???? **** Thanks again Harpgirl for starting this thread. I appreciate it. Azizi |

Subject: RE: Check out Coco Jams!!!! very cool, Azizi From: Azizi Date: 14 Apr 05 - 02:47 PM A thread about Cocojams!!! This is so totally unexpected. Thanks! What a time for my computer to be infected by a virus! I am so used to visiting Mudcat whenever I have time {and when I sometimes when I don't} that it's more than a notion, not to have online access at home {I work out of my house}. So I couldn't stand it- and went to my daughter's school to use her computer {she's a 2nd grade teacher}.. And I did at least get in touch with my friend Lucas who volunteered technical support for the Cocojams website. He's not able to come check out my computer until Saturday evening..And I've been told not to go online with my computer because I'd spread the virus-that's a no no... so... no Mudcat until Saturday night??? Well, where there is a will, there's a way... I shall return!!! Azizi |
