BTW...I forgot to mention to 'Red Guest' above that it's me that likes The Corrs (always like to be honest).....I know...hang, draw and quarter me...but I think they're great! Someone had come on and sworn about them a bit earlier and I don't think the Radio 2 board should be used to diminish talented people in such a derogatory way....also I'd just watched their video the day before, so they were fresh in my mind, as were the ecstatic faces of the 50,000 people who'd been watching them at Lansdowne Road, Dublin.

But then I love music from Show of Hands to Jim McAdam....so there you go! ;0)

As a new visitor to this board I cannot believe what I am reading.

I thought we were all supposed to be on the same side and mudcat was supposed to promote folk music.

The Sidmouth debate and all the childish sniping can only put people off attending. Me included.

Unfortunately that does appear to be what one or two people want...I have no real idea why. Those of us who WILL be there and WILL have a good time have been posting positive, and often light and silly posts, but we are always being attacked and sniped at by people, almost invariably "Guests" who seem to have some agenda against the festival. It's obvious that some people are playing right into their hands. All I can say is to repeat that there will be a festival, a lot of us will be there, and it will be enjoyable, friendly and fun....

hello to you all seems to me that you dont belive in faries and the power of magic and how the sidhe is in fact a music of the fair folk and as the last of the fair folk sidmouth will always be to me my home and birth place music is my life my work my way of thinking and as many of you know my views and my past i willnot go into that but will say why waste time play on sidmouth is alive and well and never died only loss of things money can buy but the things that are the right things are things money cant buy music and the playing of it has always been the plan of the big people the charge for it but they cant play and they never will and that as my late father said is as simple as that see you all soon and keep on playing see you at sidmouth

You know, the internet is an amazing thing, because I'm now sitting here typing to you, whilst listening to your Dad's music on my headphones, via his website! 'Ted's air' is on at present...it's lovely!

We're getting tickets to see 'Rhyzome' on the Saturday, down at Dukes 'Acoustic Cafe'. Might get to see you too then I hope. And...tell Dad he's on Page 5 of my programme!

Dukes is the former Marlborough Hotel and is right on the sea front. They'll have a covered area outside for the bands to play in, so you can sit there and watch him AND hear the sea.....well....maybe not... if they're playing loudly. ;0) You've literally only to cross the road and you're on the beach.

'Dreaming of Caledonia' has just started so I'm off to listen to the rest of it. (shhhhh....don't tell him, but blimey....I'm impressed! Gentle music, I love gentle music.)

Don't know for sure, John, but the only commercial site that might usually have space this late in the year would be Kingsdown Tail.

Given that there may well be a smaller number of attenders this year, it would be worth trying Part Thorne, or Salcombe Regis, just in case, tho' they normally fill up by mid April, at the latest.

All are on the bus round, with services back till 2.15 am, and they're all decent sites. BTW, the bus co never leaves anyone behind at the last bus, they bring in another vehicle if necessary, even if it's only one passenger.

Not true Don! Part Thorne always has quite a lot of space and we've never booked. In fact it's quite difficult to book as Malcolm has never quite managed to get his booking system off the ground! He usually says "Just turn up". And there's no one to check you in or out or anything anyway. It will probably be possible to get on to the main site without prior booking too I should think, though I may be wrong
