                          Bob Kaufman 
  
                       was born 4/18/1925 
  
                          (died 1986) 

It is said that San Francisco columnist, Herb Caen coined the term "beatnick" to describe Bob Kaufman.

(Beat poetry probably has much more to do with jazz than folkmusic but it has a whole bunch to do with USian folkways. I knew Bob somewhat and I liked him.)
