Surprised this non-trad has not wormed its way into the threads if the forum.

I personally, like its Caribbean beats:

Another Saturday Night

Sam Cooke, Kat Stevens, Jimmy Buffet circa early 1970's

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now how I wish I had someone to talk to
I am in an awful way

I got in town a month ago
I've seen a lot of girls since then
If can meet I can get them
But as yet I haven't met them
That's why I am in the shape I'm in

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now how I wish I had someone to talk to
I am in an awful way

Another fellow told me
He had a sister who looked just fine
Instead of being my deliverance
She had a strange resemblance
To a cat named Frankenstein

Here's...
Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now how I wish I had some chick to talk to
I am in an awful way

Yeah ...
It is another week-end and I ain't got nobody
Man, if I was back home I'd be swinging ....
Two chicks on my arms.... Oh yeah...

It's hard for a fellow when he doesn't know his way around
If I don't find a honey to help me spend this money
I'm gonna have to blow this town

Here...it's
Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now how I wish I had some chick to talk to
I am in an awful way

Chorus: Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody I've got some money cause I just got paid How I wish I had someone to talk to I'm in an awful way

I got in town a month ago I've seen a lot of girls since then If I could meet 'em I could get 'em But as yet I haven't met 'em That's why I'm in the shape I'm in

Chorus: Oh, another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody I've got some money cause I just got paid How I wish I had someone to talk to I'm in an awful way

Now another fella told me He had a sister who looked just fine Instead of being my deliverance She had a strange resemblance To a cat name Frankenstein

Chorus: Oh, another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody I've got some money cause I just got paid How I wish I had some chick to talk to I'm in an awful way

Chorus: Yeah, another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody I've got some money cause I just got paid How I wish I had someone to talk to I'm in an awful way

It's hard on a fella When he don't know his way around If I don't find me a honey To help me spend this money I'm headin' back to Key West town

Chorus: Oh, another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody I've got some money cause I just got paid How I wish I had someone to talk to I'm in an awful way

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Thanks for this reminder of a great pop song, one virtually guaranteed to evoke smiles and lift the mood of an entire room.

The great Sam Cooke wrote this wonderful song for himself and, of course, was the first to record it.

Why even mention ~ as equals !?!?!? ~ two of the many singers to have covered it? Hell, I've sung it, too, plenty of times, but I don't seem to rate a mention...

;^)

Do the two signatures have something to do with the fact that the full set of lyrics is also repeated twice?
