I would take it as a great favour to the festival if the less was said about the gate the better.

We would like to remember the festival by the incredible atmosphere generated by all our friends, and would not want to remember it by a minor "unlikely to re-occur" event.

The dancing and singing were superb, the procession a riot of colour and magic. There was so much to savour, and become tantalised with the prospect of it all happening again next year.

Many thanks to all the people who helped make the Upton Folk Festival a success this year. We appreciated very much all the people who volunteered to help our rather small committee to put on the event.
(The perception is that we organise it all, in practice the volunteers are the ones who are special, and put their efforts and time in to ensure the event is successful. The biggest stars of the festival are our helpers!

The campsite was left spotless, so a big thank you also to all the campers, we do need that field next year. No festival is incident free, but I have to say that this year had the lowest amount of incidents for us to worry about.

Positive comments are welcome for next year.There are always things that we can do to improve the quality of what is on offer and provided.

Many thanks for the lemonade Sal, it kept me going all weekend.

Well that was a good w/e. Congratulations to all concerned.   Some of us have to go to work the next day. Hmmmph wish I didn't have to, I had no brain today. Have I never mentioned that Shellbacks and Mudcaters get half price lemonade? Well I'm mentioning it now. What were the best bits for me? The folk club on Friday night. MandoTim (wow tim what a gaf!) and Webfolk providing catering for me and my wonderful assistants, Rosie and Estie. Robin Laing of course (unfortunately I've caught your cold if you're reading this mate!)   and the thunder storm. Thanks to everyone for keeping my daughter's phone topped up!!! No actually she does that, but somehow she has no money when it comes to the little things!

My apologies too Sue - In bed for 3.30 and set the alarm for 5am. Managed to switch it off before falling to sleep again but it went off at the same time the following morning too, must have been some kind of retribution!

Maidenhead and Llantrissant were nearly as good as Travelling Folk, Maghull and Wooden Horse. Dodging quickly away from the Admiral's right hook. :-)))
Seriously though I enjoyed some really good sings over the weekend and quite a few cracking concerts.
The procession was bigger than the past few years and excellent as always. Den was disappointed that the belly dancers weren't there though.
I got up to greet the dawn on Mayday, said "hello" and promptly returned to bed. Like many I sat up watching that spectacular lightning over the hills until the wee small hours and couldn't wake up enough to go and watch the dancing - sorry Sue.
Here's to next year...

I enjoyed the folk club and the Lion too.

The thunder, lightning and torrential rain were in the small hours of May morning and contributed to my decision not to watch the dancing at dawn.... apologies to Sue the Borderer. I did watch the procession at noon though.

We certainly did.

The combined Llantrisant and Maidenhead Folkclubs put on a wonderful afternoon in the Star, and there were some great song sessions in the Lion - and an impressive thunderstorm one night!

And we survived our first caravan trip.
