Can anyone help with the chords for Fishing with John. I have it on a CD by Carol and Dick Holdstock called " Way Out West" . Am having particular difficulty with the chorus.
Any help appreciated.
Anne

I was about to transcribe this from the Holdstocks CD, Shanties and Sea Songs from Way out West, but I found the song online at the GEST Website. A couple of words are different from what Carol Holdstock sings, but nothing to worry about.

Fishing With John
(Words by Bill Gallaher, Music by Mike Jones)

Sometimes I grow weary of big city ways,
Tired of the rat race and each day's new craze;
Sometimes I find myself lost in the maze,
Not knowing what I can believe in.
But I just heard from John, he says I should come soon,
Spend time on his troller while the season's full bloom;
He says it's no picnic; there's no elbowroom,
But it's something that you can believe in.

I might stay forever or just for awhile,
I might go an inch; I might go a mile;
If someone asks for me, tell them I've gone,
Away to the West Coast, fishing with John.

He says we'll run north till the last light of day,
And wait out the night in some rain spattered bay;
In the mist of the dawn we'll be well underway,
To the fishing grounds spoiling for salmon.
It's a sea gypsy's life that each season brings,
On a boat that's in tune with the song the wind sings;
With her lines set for salmon, her poles out like wings,
She glides like a bird on the water.

I might stay forever or just for awhile,
I might go an inch; I might go a mile;
If someone asks for me, tell them I've gone,
Away to the West Coast, fishing with John.

For forty years John's made the sea his first home,
And all that it's served up he's faced on his own;
It's his way of life, he says, all that he's known,
He'll be fishing as long as there's salmon.
So I leave in the morning to make my way west,
How long there'll be salmon is anyone's guess;
And God only knows how much time John has left,
But he's asked me to come share it with him.

I might stay forever or just for awhile,
I might go an inch; I might go a mile;
If someone asks for me, tell them I've gone,
Away to the West Coast, fishing with John.
If someone asks for me, tell them I've gone,
Away to the West Coast, fishing with John.

Have managed to work out these chords, but if anyone can rectify any errors with chords (chorus had some difficulty, may be a minor needed) please contribute.

Sorry, the spacing didn't come out right. It's mostly one chord per bar.
