The (Bard) Storyteller that Jim McAdams sang is probably Steve Thomason's song, lovely but not the one Ron is looking for!

I wondered if it was Jim McAdam's song too Andy, but thought not.

It is great, ~ I'll play it again too.

From: oldhippie

Probably not the same song, but the only one I know with the title.

^^
The Storyteller - Eric L. West
(In Memory of Clyde Monk) (Titus 2:6-8 and Lev. 19:32)
(c) 1998 Eric L. West. All Rights Reserved. Used by permission.

Key of G
No Capo

He was only two months older than the state of Oklahoma,
But his face would show, he'd lived a lot more life.
He could sit and rock for hours, talkin' 'bout the weather,
Or one of many mem'ries of his wife.

And the storyteller knew a time, that I have never seen,
Two world wars, covered wagons and a clumsy Model T.
But if I can draw the wisdom from the life he shared with me,
Then someday down the road, a storyteller I might long to be.

He'd go on about his farmland, how high the corn must be now,
If we'd only get a rain next week or two.
But the stories he repeated, over and over,
Were about the many people that he knew.

And the storyteller knew of men that I have never seen,
The local hero, countless farmers, and his high school baseball team.
But if I can draw the wisdom from the life he shared with me,
Then someday down the road, a storyteller I might long to be.

He was just a simple farmer, who loved to tell his stories,
But I found in him a living testament.
To the value of a lifetime following a Savior,
Who promised us a life, more abundant.

And the storyteller knew a faith that I have never seen,
Trust in God, true contentment, and a soft humility.
But if I can draw the wisdom from the life he shared with me,
Then someday down the road, a storyteller I might long to be.

Just so I stop worrying, this not that wonderful song sang by Jim Mc Adams: "I am the Bard, the story teller".
I know it can't be, it would have been picked up already.

Andy
Hmm, thinks ....I'll go and put his CD on.

Ron, your search is over, someone told me my song was a discussion point on Mudcat website so I had to have a look!. I will try to post lyrics and chords on here when I have some time. The Storyteller is a song about the transmission of tales and wisdom from one generation to another through the spark they ignite in some, but not all, who hear them. I find it astonishingly appropriate that the internet should now be part of that process.
Rick
