Is this the song?

http://www.lionking.org/~timwi/cgi-bin/gen.cgi?peaceEnglish

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-m_KGdE0js

Just like a flower when winter begins
Just like a candle blown out in the wind
Just like a bird that can no longer fly
I'm feeling that way sometimes

But then as I'm falling weighed down by the load
I picture a light at the end of the road
And closing my eyes, I can see through the dark
The dream that is in my heart

A little loving, a little giving
To build a dream for the world we live in
A little patience and understanding
For our tomorrow a little peace

A little sunshine, a sea of gladness
To wash away all the tears of sadness
A little hoping, a little praying
For our tomorrow a little peace

I feel I'm a leaf in the November snow
I fell to the ground, there was no one below
So now I am helpless alone with my song
Just wishing the storm was gone

A little loving, a little giving
To build a dream for the world we live in
A little patience and understanding
For our tomorrow a little peace

A little sunshine, a sea of gladness
To wash away all the tears of sadness
A little hoping, a little praying
For our tomorrow a little peace

We are feathers on the breeze
Sing with me this song of peace
We are feathers on the breeze
Sing with me this song of peace

When the sun says good night to the prairie I'll be headed for that great divide
There's a little blue eyed prairie sweetheart
I'm longing to be by her side,
She promised to meet me at twilight
At the gate of the old home corral
It's sure swell to go where the shadows hang low
When the sun says good night to the prairie.

and something about,

painted pictures of gold dear rangeland un fold
when the sun says goodnight to the prairie.

Go to YouTube and search for 'When the Sun Says Goodnight' This will bring up quite a few possibilities. If you find the right tune, you can note the words.

I encountered this recently on a CD from Kerry Christensen, singing it in German. 'Wann der Sonne erwacht in den Bergen.'   It's a lovely tune, and he does it well, with warmth and accuracy.

When i was a boy Wilf Carter sang one with a similar title...

When the sun says goodnight to the prairie
And its rays kiss the rangeland goodnight
The cattle bed down in the valley
The nightowl starts out on its flight....etc.

Hi Just happened across this site today looking for the song I think that you are talking about the name of it is A little Lovin by Nicole the lyrics are

Just like a flower when winter begins
Just like a candle blown out in the wind
Just like a bird that can now longer fly
???

I picture a light at the end of the Road
and closing my eyes I can see through the dark
the dream that is in my heart

A little lovin
A little giving to build a dream for the work we live in
A little hoping and understanding for out tomorrow and little peace

We are feathers on the breeze sing with me my song of peace

I dreamt i was a leaf in the november snow
I fell to the ground there was no one below
And now I am helpless alone with my song
Just wishing the song was sung

A little loving, a little giving
To wash away alll the tears and sadness
A little hoping and understanding
For our to-morrow a little peace

There is more but I cant remember it at the mo

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When the sun says goodbye to the meadow
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 24 Mar 05 - 01:28 AM

It seems this song began its life with the title WHEN THE SUN SAYS GOODNIGHT TO THE MOUNTAIN. The words (in English) were written by Harry Pease, and the music by Larry Vincent, in 1936. There was an early recording by the British dance band Geraldo and his Gaucho Tango Orchestra, with vocalist Monte Rey. (Google gives 70+ hits with this title.)

In French, it was known as QUAND LE SOLEIL DIT BONJOUR AUX MONTAGNES. The French lyrics were apparently written by Annette and Carmen Richer. There was an early recording by Lévis Bouliane and Aurèle Lacroix; a more recent one by Carole Laure. I suspect there are many more. (Google gives 600+ hits on this title.)

It has only been known as THE FRENCH SONG since Lucille Starr recorded it with that title in 1964. Under that title, it has also been recorded by Stompin' Tom Connors, Jimmy C. Newman, and The Sandpipers.

Subject: Lyr Add: OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING
From: open mike
Date: 22 Mar 05 - 05:37 PM

it reminds me of something from the musical Oklahoma...

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow
There's a bright golden haze on the meadow
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye,
An' it looks like it's climbin' clear up to the sky.

Oh, what a beautiful mornin',
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I got a beautiful feelin'
Ev'rything's goin' my way.

All the cattle are standin' like statues
All the cattle are standin' like statues
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by,
But a little brown mav'rick is winkin' her eye.

Oh, what a beautiful mornin',
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I got a beautiful feelin'
Ev'rything's goin' my way.

All the sounds of the earth are like music
All the sounds of the earth are like music
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree,
And a ol' weepin' willer is laughin' at me!

Oh, what a beautiful mornin',
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I got a beautiful feelin'
Ev'rything's goin' my way.
Oh, what a beautiful day!

probably not what yo were looking for,
but that is what comes to mind.

Is it this one?

The French Song by Lucille Starr

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes
Et que la nuit rencontre le jour
Je suis seule avec mes rêves sur la montagne
Une voix me rappelle toujours

J'écoute à ma porte de la chanson du vente
Rappelle les souvenirs de toi

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes
Je suis seule. Je ne veux penser qu'à toi

Now when the Sun says good day to the mountains
And the night says hello to the dawn
I'm alone with my dreams on the hilltop
I can still hear his voice though he's gone

I hear from my door the lovesongs through the wind
It brings back sweet memories of you

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes
Je suis seule. Je ne veux penser qu'à toi

Maybe you are looking for The French Song. Try searching the threads with that as the filter, from March 98. (The best I can do - I am link-challenged!)

I think it is called "A Little Peace", and I think the word is mountain not meadow.

If I'm right the chorus is

A little loving, a little giving
To wash away alll the tears and sadness
A little hoping and understanding
For our to-morrow a little peace

or something like that

It won the Eurovision song contest for Germany, in 19?? and the original was in German, but the singer (Nicole?) sang a few verses of the reprise in English.

Its hardly folk, but then neither is Wooden Heart

God, such useless information !.

I'm going to give up drink.

Paddy

These are the only lyrics I know to this song. I was wondering if anybody recognized the words. I need to know the rest of the lyrics and the title of the song. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank You Daniel J. Drullard
