I saw this news story today, and just knew there must be a song in there somewhere... or two, or twenty.... (Can't help wondering: if a car doesn't have an Organ Donor card, can you still use the parts?) Go for it, songwriters...

DRIVER 'EXECUTES' BALKY AUTOMOBILE
Floridian arrested after firing 5 rounds into hood

Updated: 12:27 p.m. ET April 21, 2005

MIAMI - Fed up with his troublesome car, a Florida man fired five rounds from a semi-automatic pistol into the hood of his 1994 Chrysler LeBaron.

"I'm putting my car out of its misery," 64-year-old John McGivney said after the incident outside an apartment building in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, according to a police report that listed the car as "deceased."

McGivney surrendered to police, was jailed on a firearms charge Friday and released on bond a day later. He told officers the car had been giving him trouble for years.

"I think every guy in the universe has wanted to do it," the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Wednesday quoted McGivney as saying. "It was worth every damn minute in that jail."

The Beatles' "Baby, You Can Wreck My Car" comes to mind.

... and my uncle once home-recorded a song called something like, 'Will you love me when my poor old Ford's a wreck?' It was filled with automotive euphemisms for broken-down body parts (I don't want to be near you if your radiator's leaking, let me tell you). I don't know where to find that one.

As I drove down to the beach in the springtime
to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea ee ee eee,
I saw a LeBaron a winkin in Mose code.
I saw that old car just a blinking at me.

I can see by your emblem that you are a Chrysler
A new Chrysler Crossfire with Mercedes Parts
Come park here beside me and read my sad story
Come read my sad tale 'fore they tear me a part.

I once had an owner who would drive me on Sunday
A little old man named McGivney ee ee
And I never thought that I would say one day
That McGivney's in jail and there's bullets in me.

Go bring me back a cool quart of coolant
For my radiator so that I may go on
I know that its true that I'm leaking my fluids
They just have to last til I finish this song

So beep you horns slowly play your bass boxes lowly
And dim your high beams as they tow me away
Don't end up in the scrapyard or crushed in a junkyard.
Mechanical victim of a morality play

I shot the Chrysler, but I did not shoot the Chevrolet.

Best I can do at the moment, too much alcohol intake at the weekend!

Got no motor running
Dead out on the highway
Lookin' for a shotgun
'Cos I'll repair it - my way

Yeah, Chrysler, gonna make it happen,
Soon as I find a lonely place
Fire all of my guns and watch
You explode into space

Through the broken windshield,
Heavy metal crowbar
Shootin' all the lights out
And rippin' off the towbar

Yeah, Chrysler, gonna make it happen,
Soon as I find a lonely place
Fire all of my guns and watch
You explode into space

Like an old, knackered steed
You were born, born to be wheeled
And I'll tell you why -
Today you're gonna di-i-ie

Born to be wheeled
Born to be wheeled

It's firing on 3, and the transmission shakes,
It's chucking out oil, and it's got fading brakes
The heat from the motor, could cook 12lb steaks
I'm dumping my Chrysler Oh.

So come a little closer, I'll pour lead into your motor,
Let me blast you one more time, I'm dumping my Chrysler Oh.

(to the tune of Eric Bogles 'The leaving of Nancy')

Red Green finally snapped eh? (He spends six months of the year in Florida and that's not his real name.)

I tried very hard to come up with a song.
But could think of little that rhymes.
But I feel very sorry for that poor mans car,
Shot in the "head" five times.

Best wishes, Mike.

To The Tune of Biddy Milligan, pride of the coombe

I'm - a - Strappin fine Chrysler,I'm king of the road
I'm the envy of all other cars
I've driven through mountains, through valleys and fountains
And parked up outside seedy Bars
But My owners a nut case, he's gone in the head
His hobby is collecting rare pythons
But what i cannot see, and it mystifies me
How this fruit loop first got a licence

Chourus
You may travel from North right down to the south
From the east, right a-cross the west
Of all the motor's you'd see
Not one could beat me
A 94 Chrysler LeBaron's the best

Now me joints they are seizing, i'm starting to rust,
My springs creak when carryin' a load
But I'm not totally bet, Thats what to expect
After 11 years on Florida's roads
I've never been loved, polished or serviced
Never had an appreciative rub
Just smelly old feet, and him throwin up on my seat
As i transport him home from the pub

Chourus....

We'll i've now had enough, of this slackjawed dumbass
I think I'll retire myself
Pull out the plug, and leave him F**k off
And spend the rest of my days on a shelf
But wait now a minute, he's coming on out
With his gun, going out on a spree
Now won't this be nice, OH SWEET HOLY CHRIST
He's pointing the barrell at me

Chourus...........

He's lifted my hood, where i'm not lookin too good
He sending a classic to hang
I go into a jigger as he pulls on the trigger,
And then it's all done in a BANG
Now I'm up in car heaven, and I'm lookin down
On the planet where i met my fate
I used to thing it was wonderfull, all that i wanted
But from up here? Nah it's not all that great

Soreee. The mind boggles sometimes. it really does

INTRO
Chrysler, oh Chrysler, Chrysler all my life
If I hadn't-a shot the Chrysler, it'd give me endless strife
Chrysler's gone, one more round, Chrysler's gone

VERSES
She was low-down and travellin', and she was cold and mean
Kind of evil make me want to grab my sub-machine
Chrysler's gone, one more round, Chrysler's gone

First time I shot it, I shot it in the hood
Fun to watch it suffer, and with each shot I felt good
Chrysler's gone, one more round, Chrysler's gone

But jailer, oh jailer, jailer I can't sleep
'Cause all over the driveway, I see the Chrysler seep
Chrysler's gone, one more round, Chrysler's gone

So if your car is devilish, you can let it run
Or you can bring it down and do it, like my Chrysler got done
Chrysler's gone, one more round, Chrysler's gone

Chrysler's gone, one more round, Chrysler's gone

McGivney had a Chrysler, it was new in '94
It started out a dandy, but it wasn't anymore!
It started giving trouble, and one day it wouldn't start
So he fetched himself a pistol and he blew it all apart!

That car, it's just a junker-he swears it aint no good
Five bullets in the clunker, and plugged it in the hood
The neighbors heard him bellow, when the slugs began to fly,
he said "Tuck your head between your legs, and kiss your arse goodbye!

He lives in an apartment, and the neighbors raised a stink
Somebody called a constable, who hauled him to the clink
They didn't keep him in long, next day he made his bail
And he went to the papers, and the car went straight to hell.

1994 Chrysler LeBaron.

"I'm putting my car out of its misery," 64-year-old John McGivney said after the incident outside an apartment building in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, according to a police report that listed the car as "deceased."
