They had several...John Evan was keyboard man on many JT albums.

And I believe they still use a keyboard man now.

John Evan did tremendous piano playing, as well as other keyboard instruments; organ, accordion, electronics...

After his departure from the group, there have been several others who did piano, but electronics seemed to increase in use over the years.

Ian Anderson (Mr. Jethro Tull) has released a few solo albums in the past few years, some of which did use piano. He also released an orchestral collection titled "Divinities; Twelve Dances with God", which is a excellent work.

Anderson also plays piano as well as a myriad of other instruments.

I really haven't checked their site lately, I do not know what is doing now.

Andrew Giddings has been Tull's keyboard man for the last ten years, using all manner of keyboard instruments.

Thanks Ken.

I've been approached by one who is looking to play folk clubs with piano who is venturing out as a singer songwriter.

which one lives in Brighton?

John Evan was the first but I think the current one is Andy Giddings. There has always been a mixture of piano and keyboard type stuff on their albums. There is a great variety from the classical type piano playing, like the intro to 'Locomotive Breath' to the 80's synthesizer riffs, like 'Steel Monkey'. Impossible to pin them down, that's their charm, some strum-a-long chordy types songs, some heavy metal riffy types stuff and some sensitive plinky-plonky stuff.

'peggy is primarily the bassist'

Peggy was indeed 'a' bassist wi' 'em - but only one of another list that thankfully falls short of the number of keyboard players involved.

Now this thread has drifted off the keyboard over to the bass stack.
Ah well – one should run with the ball I suppose………

Only 'cause the list of keyboard folks up above is pretty comprehensive, I'll have a go at the bass list.
Starting off in order, down at the front end of the Tull lifespan that was my sixth-form and college days staple diet.
Hope I haven't missed anyone! (No doubt will be corrected if wrong)

'This was'.....
Glen Cornick (the original – great to watch! – melodic, yet still maintained the bottom end – class!)
Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond (er, more of a close mate that appeared to learn the ropes as he went along)
John Glascock (charismatic player – his arrival coincided with the more, um, folk-rock period starting with 'Songs from the Wood' – which saw the supporting members step up for a new departure on stage - vocal harmonies! Due to a heart defect, he was tragically lost to us all)
Tony Williams (one tour? - when John fell ill)
Dave Pegg (stability – quality - presence - and no slouch either!)
Steve Bailey (some tracks on just one album I believe)

and current 'Minstrel in the Gallery'....
Jonathon Noyce (present since 95 – maintains a high standard!)

I meant to add that the list above includes keys players from side projects and former bands. The bassist list looks complete.

Peace, Mooh.
