Subject: card song????
From: Paul
Date: 04 Nov 98 - 03:48 AM

I was talking with my motherinlaw and she mentioned a song that was popular during the war. Something about a deck of cards and how it was related to the bible? Anybody know this. I could use words and music (ra file of the song would do or noteworthy composer file or just plain fax, I'll sent the number if you have the song.)

Thanks, Paul pevenden@lightspeed.bc.ca

Paul--

It's called Deck of Cards. You can find it at:

http://www.roughstock.com/cowpie

When you get there, look under TYLER.

enjoy-- Bill Foster

Well, it's likely not true, and it's been covered pretty solidly in a past thread. try a forum search for Deck of Cards. If all you want is the words, try a search of our databaser for [Deck of Cards] (the square brackets indicate that it's a phrase]

Deck of cards was a "talk song" done by Wink Martindale in the early 60's?

I believe that "Deck of Cards" was first recorded during WW2 by Bob Hope's radio sidekick, Phil Harris.

Reta,

This song is quite old and quite popular. It seems to be reinvigorated by any armed conflict. It is in the Digitrad Database. Type in [deck of cards] in the search in the upper right-hand corner. Or you can just click here.

It is obviously very sentimental and very religious and so it is not for everyone's taste. If you like it, enjoy the song.

Roger in Baltimore

Utah Phillips used to do an anti-communist version of this called THE RED DECK OF CARDS.
Anyon know it?

One of the most puckable songs of all time, second only to a horror called 'The Deal'.
First time I heard it I thought it was a joke it was so OTT.
Cheers
