Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Wesley S Date: 13 May 05 - 05:01 PM I own a Gromit coffee mug. I guess you could put tea in it.... { I supected the penguin from the start } |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 13 May 05 - 04:10 PM They use music as a Weapon of Morale Destruction these days, a kind of torture. This would count as a pretty extreme example. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST Date: 13 May 05 - 08:01 AM Well, that was my thought, and why would anyone want a recording of it, but there's no accounting for taste; one man's trash is another man's treasure and all that. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Peter T. Date: 13 May 05 - 02:37 AM perhaps best - it is singularly gruesome. yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST Date: 12 May 05 - 11:52 PM Sorry someone couldn't come up with the music on the radio in "The Wrong Trousers" for you, T. I looked but came up empty handed. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Micca Date: 12 May 05 - 06:59 PM Yes Peter, apparently a New Feature length Wallace and Grommet Film, called (I think) "The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" is nearing completion and was being "launched" at Cannes |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Peter T. Date: 12 May 05 - 04:38 PM I note that a 30 foot tall Gromit was displayed at Cannes today. yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: JedMarum Date: 04 May 05 - 11:39 PM We're big Wallace & Grommit fans here in Dallas ... we have a 3 VHS tape collection ... watch 'em all a time or three each year. And always choose moments in real life to bring back our favorite quotes: "It's the wrong trousers Grommit!" |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Liz the Squeak Date: 04 May 05 - 03:44 PM Eyebrows - only person I know of who uses his eyebrows in such a fashion - Roger Moore. LTS |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: mandoleer Date: 04 May 05 - 03:34 PM You know, that's the only thing wrong with Wallace and Gromit. The Wensleydale. Why not a proper tasting cheese like Lancashire? |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 04 May 05 - 01:04 PM Great photo, Donuel! Funny, I don't remember the train being the Mudcat express. On the topic of all things Wallace and Gromit, I have a Playstation2 Wallace and Gromit game... Jerry No Wallace and Gromit jammies yet, though.. |

Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 04 May 05 - 09:51 AM Wensleydale? You sure you don't mean Mazomanie? Gromit is almost as cute as Joe Offer. Jerry |

Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST,Ewe Sheep Date: 03 May 05 - 07:00 PM WHy do you like them so much? From personal experience, I'd prefer to work in a Welsh leisure centre to spending any more time with those two. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Dani Date: 03 May 05 - 12:05 PM Have only seen the 3 on DVD, but we love them. "CHEESE, Grommit!" They are sweet and loveable and so well-done. Even my high-tech daughters are charmed. Loved Chicken Run as well. Southern US. Dani |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 03 May 05 - 11:02 AM Has there ever been an actor (assuming Gromit is male) who could say more with their eyebrows? Not even James Dean could emote that heavily with them. Makes me think of a wonderful James Thurber story where the husband gets fed up listening to all the intellectuals at a cocktail party arguing about who was the greatest actor or actress of all time. Out of frustration, he says Donald Duck. And the more people ridicule him, the more he defends his choice to the point where he has such a big fight with his wife on the way home that it ends up in divorce. I'm not that extreme, but Gromit can act circles around William Shatner, John Wayne and George Segal. Jerry |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 May 05 - 10:55 AM Haven't seen 'Valiant' yet, but then I don't much care for pigeons (except as squab, in a pie....). LTS |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Dave'sWife Date: 03 May 05 - 08:20 AM Well I do hope in the new outing Gromit gets some respect. He's such a good boy. Drat that Penguin for ever making him feel he wasn't. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: mandoleer Date: 02 May 05 - 04:21 PM I've got the first three W & Gs on video. They're the only reason I keep the video player. Pity the TV doesn't work. Might pick up a working set free some day. Don't need a licence if you're only watching pre-recorded videos. By the way, there's a rapper side called Shaun the Sheep in Southport. The Americans may not have seen those Shaun the Sheep rucksacks that I think you can still get here.... |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Gorgeous Gary Date: 01 May 05 - 08:38 PM Naemanson - We're also huge Studio Ghibli fans too! 8-) -- Gary |

Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Peter T. Date: 01 May 05 - 08:09 AM Anyone know if there is a recording of that horrible music that plays when Gromit is muscled out of his own home by the nefarious bird? yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Scoville Date: 30 Apr 05 - 09:56 PM I loved Chicken Run but of course, before Pixar came along, all the recent animated films in the U.S.A. sucked. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jos Date: 30 Apr 05 - 07:02 PM and then The Wrong Trousers is on tomorrow. - oh, today, it has just gone midnight here. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST Date: 30 Apr 05 - 06:17 PM Well, A Grand Day Out is on UK tv tonight - BBC1 I think, at 2200hrs. I love it when the mice put on sunglasses as the rocket blasts off from the basement..... |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: RangerSteve Date: 30 Apr 05 - 05:41 PM Also a fan. The toy railroad chase was hysterical. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: sian, west wales Date: 30 Apr 05 - 04:39 PM Jerry, thank you for giving me a rare opportunity to feel young. Or, at least ... not so old. I've never heard of the Puppetoons! At least there are still a few things 'before my time'!!!! siân |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Den Date: 30 Apr 05 - 02:37 PM Peter, its scheduled for theatre release in October of this year. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 30 Apr 05 - 01:30 PM For the reallllll old-timers, my appreciation for the old George Pal Puppetoons made me an easy target to enjoy Wallace and Gromit. I have a very rare video of Puppetoons which I got with a lot of effort many years ago. They stopped producing the video, just as they did Song Of The South, because it did present blacks in a distorted manner. Jerry |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Firecat Date: 30 Apr 05 - 11:54 AM sian, Valiant is brilliant!! I loved it! Mind you, I'm a Hugh Laurie and John Cleese fan so that might have something to do with it. That's the one where I saw the Wallace and Gromit trailer. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: sian, west wales Date: 30 Apr 05 - 08:33 AM I went to see 'Valiant' last night. Not a Nick Parks creation, and again the story line could have been better, but some really great characterisations and slapstick. You seen it yet, Liz? siân |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST,darkriver (sans cookie) Date: 29 Apr 05 - 11:21 PM Muh whole family is W&G fans. Especially love "The Wrong Trousers." Jerry, ditto about the penguin. Have you figured out yet where he hid the gun? doug |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: CarolC Date: 29 Apr 05 - 10:28 PM Oops. Forgot to mention which side. Left side of the pond. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Dave'sWife Date: 29 Apr 05 - 10:21 PM We have a lovely friend from Japan in her mid-30s. One Christmas, she came over to meet my Mum and Dad who were visting and we decided to show our favorite shorts and Holiday specials. We just about did the poor girl in. She loved the first 2 Wallace & Gromit shorts but when Gromit is made to feel unloved and packs his little doggie bindle and heads out for greener pastures .. oh my did she weep and weep! Happy ending or no, she said it was just too sad to bear. The we showed her Rudolph the Reindeer and when all the other Reindeer were laughing at him.. she turned on the faucets again. By the time Rudolph and friends got to The Island of Misfit Toys.. she was sobbing uncontrollabley and wanting to know WHY Santa wouldn't rescue those poor unloved toys and WHY the other Reindeer were so mean. We had to stop the tape, calm her down and tell her it was all gonna come out alright in the end before she would consent to continue the story. Poor Gal. Good thing we didn't show her The Little Drummer Boy, huh? Poor ole Gromit. I gotta admit, I cried too when he left home. My Alsatian reminds me a lot of Gromit. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Naemanson Date: 29 Apr 05 - 09:45 PM Sign me up for the fan list. Unfortunately my wife has trouble with English anyway and English acented English is too much for her. So I'd have to say she is not going to be a fan once I introduce her to the movies. She loves the Studio Ghibli films though. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: ranger1 Date: 29 Apr 05 - 08:09 PM I have a stuffed Gromit that one of my best friends gave me as a birthday present when I was really depressed. It cheered me up considerably. My favorite movie is A Close Shave. I love Shaun the Sheep's sweater that Gromit knit for him! |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Peter T. Date: 29 Apr 05 - 06:30 PM Does anyone know when the film is actually coming out? yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Metchosin Date: 29 Apr 05 - 02:29 PM Burger, burger.....big old car freshener! |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST Date: 29 Apr 05 - 02:26 PM "A Close Shave" is tied with "The Wrong Trousers" for 1st place. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST Date: 29 Apr 05 - 02:21 PM Leenia, Gift set on eBay..VHS tho The price is right. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Metchosin Date: 29 Apr 05 - 02:18 PM Thanks Noreen and Den, I rather suspected they might be related. For those who want a Wallace and Gromit hit, with a bit more adult content and a bent edge, check out Angry Kid its as good as it gets. LOL I think my favourite is Tourette's Syndrome, although with some its hard to choose. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 29 Apr 05 - 02:05 PM That was The Wrong Trousers, Leeneia. All three short features are on one DVD. I doubt that the colors have been changed since 1990. Maybe the air in the plane made them seem softer... Jerry |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 29 Apr 05 - 01:30 PM I'm back. I looked on eBay, but the pix I saw there showed brash colors and garish art. The Wallace & Gromit I saw on the plane seemed gentle and old-fashioned. For example, they lived in a house with flowered wallpaper in subdued colors. Have the Wallace & Gromits changed style in recent years? I don't want to be zapped by raw reds and blazing yellows. The movie I saw involved a felonious chicken (or was it a penguin disguised as a chicken? I remember it putting a rubber glove on its head to simulate a comb. What movie would that have been? I'm pretty sure that was in 1990. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 29 Apr 05 - 01:19 PM In 1990 I crossed the pond and didn't sleep a wink. Being able to watch a Wallace & Grommitt in the wee hours made a hard night bearable. I've often wished I could get these films here in River City. I think I'll go look now. Thanks for posting! |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: GUEST,Les B. Date: 29 Apr 05 - 12:03 PM Wow - I saw the thread title and was instantly hungry for cheese and crackers. It's great that another feature is on the way! |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Stephen L. Rich Date: 29 Apr 05 - 11:24 AM "The Wrong Trousers" is definately the best so far. Stephen Lee |

Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Den Date: 29 Apr 05 - 10:44 AM Metchosin, yes Angry Kid is an Aardman Production. The same people who do Wallace and Gromit. |
Subject: RE: Wallace & Grommit From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 29 Apr 05 - 09:40 AM The wrong trousers, definitely. The penguin's disguise is an all-time classic... Jerry |
