Dad sang this song when I was a kid, I`m now seventy five, I wonder if anyone has any history or corrections. I searched under Michael Shea, Dublin Fusileers,and Dublin Bay, to no avail. I`ve lurked this board for quite a while but never posted before. It`s a great resource. Thanks for any information. Dick

Miraculous!! Thank you many times over. I had the melody stored in my brain and it was right. The second verse was mostly missing from memory, also few words different. These computers and the internet are a marvel to an old schooler like me.
Think about this! I`ll bet my ancestors never visualized one of their descendants looking for a WW1 song that they probably sang. And I`ll also bet your descendants never thought you`d be locating that song, for a man of Irish extraction. Great new world, ain`t it?
I`m on my way to break out the guitar and record it and put it on a CD for my grandkids to learn and sing! Thanks again.

He got a two months' furlough, and he started on his way,
His Irish eyes a-dancin' as the boys all heard him say:
