5/1/1690: A battle was fought on the plains of Cromdale. The Scots actually lost & Montrose
(James Graham, Marquess Montrose 1612-1650) had died 40 years prior.
(But that's mearly history, not anything important like folksong.)
The loyal Stewarts, with Montrose,
So boldly set upon their foes,
And brought them down with Highland blows
Upon the Haughs of Cromdale.
