Dent Folk Festival, the 24th to the 26th June

Artists for 2005 include Shooglenifty, Roy Bailey, Dick Gaughan, Nancy Kerr & James Fagan, Pete Coe, Ben Paley & Tab Hunter, Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer.

Mum, Dad and the kids can enjoy activities such as clog dancing, storytelling, song games and dance stories on the Saturday afternoon along with more family entertainment from Wynndebagge and Proper
Punch on Sunday afternoon. Crook Morris, The Limestone Cowboys and Kirkburton Rapier Dancers take over the main marquee on Saturday afternoon for an extravaganza of traditional dance. The festival
also features a host of other top performers including the cream of local talent, workshops, sessions, real ale from Black Sheep and Dent Breweries and great food also available on site.

Prices for the main concerts start at £10.00, but most of the events are free. Tickets are available from the box office on 01524 582803. Full details of the festival can be found at www.dentfolkfestival.co.uk.

The Dent Folk Festival 2005 is funded by Arts Council England, Craven Trust, Frieda Scott Trust, Black Sheep Brewery, Lyon Equipment, South Lakeland District Council, Kendal College, Folkus and Dent Parish Council.

As my name is Martin DENT, do you think I would be aloud to play at the festival? Or have the organisers have heard me before?

As the box office number would appear to be Lancaster City Council's Arts & Events Service, shouldn't they get a mention somewhere?

Martin, your welcome to join the sessions!

Lancaster City Council run a box office service hence their number. They take a percentage and don't actually fund us hence no mention.

Dent is in the UK situated in South East Cumbria in The Yorkshire Dale National park.

It's a dilemma situation!

Mr Happy+fiends are torn between going here or Glasson http://www.glassonfestival.org.uk/ which although on a different w/end is very tempting.

Problem is, we've just had Chester FF on Bank Hol w/end last, coming w/end off to Bishop's Castle, following w/e Middlewich, so if we do Dent as well, we'll have been away for 5 w/ends on the trot.

Are there likely to be many sessions/sinarounds at Dent?

What's the fest been like in previous years?

Any advice?
