Who is upsetting who in this thread?

I'm not upset.
Never have been.

Triumphalist, yes.
Sarcastic, possibly
Upset?

Not in a million years!

The free-reign of the British Army in the wee pravince resulted in the free-reign of the IRA in your neck of the woods.

Now who upset who, there?

Let us both laugh, rat.

He who laughs last, laughs longest

I would have thought the Brits would be the ones to be upset.

Straw Man fallacies don't work, I'm afraid, ratty.
Let's get back to who is REALLY upset

The 'Unionists' for one
And you, obviously.

Us?

We won the war.
Kicked yer spotty arses good and hard, we did..
Did we not?

What in God's name and address have we to be upset about?

I hear Al Queda has your green and pleasant land marked down for special attention, however....

The strangest thing is not one poster could give a valid reason for Brits being in NI, yet, how they squeal as they leave.

Precisely 08.41pm

Out through Belfast Lough, the way they came in...

If you look at the map linked to in the very first post to this thread, and click to enlarge, you will see that it is not just the British Army that we pushed back towards the Lough.

Did anybody read the article linked to on the CAIN website by Tír Chonaill?
Large Timothy, and others.

Here we have the whole attitude of the Nazi Unionist Community in a nutshell:

Q: Is it not the democratic right of anyone in Northern Ireland to be a Nationalist and an anti-Partitionist?
Lord Brookeborough: Yes, absolutely his democratic right.

Q: And therefore, to expect completely equal treatment from the state?
LB: Well, it's very difficult to answer that, but surely nobody is going to put an enemy where he can destroy you?

Q: Even if he is going to use constitutional methods to do it?
LB: No. I wouldn't.
-------------------
You can legislate til you are blue in the face, folks.
That's where it's really at.

And as the worthy Tír Eoghain asks...

Any questions?

Apologies Tír Chonaill; I thought it was your name that was on my clipboard...
I posted too quickly....

And as the worthy Tír Chonaill asks, in that case...

Any questions?

You live in a bygone age of nonsensical racial hatred, Irish nazis equal weeping bitter celts who need a big shit to expel their own inferiority complex, he who riles the warth of rascists laughs longest, loudest and with the uttermost gusto. Farewell Gaelic bigots for I have something to do today other than spew inbred illiterate filth.

Auf Wiedersehn Gits

*I expect a shower of replys from the nazis and thus this will have proven the point*

Yer not wrong there, Guest.

English people are fine.
Some of my best friends are English, in fact

It's only when they want to rule you, or give out because they can't rule you anymore, that I start objecting...

Let's get that clear...

Just for balance, a few words in defence of the Army.
It is a while since the engaged poorly armed tribesmen. Internationally their reputation is quite high.
It is true that in NI they were unable to achieve a military conclusion to the problem, but neither were the various paramilitaries.
In comparing them, remember the roles were very different.
The role of the army was to make the streets safe. They therefor had to be out on the steets, fully exposed. Who would deny the cold courage needed to do that.
PIRA had the arguably easier task of shooting them in the back from safe vantage points, or planting bombs where they pass, while themselves mingling with the civillian population.
As we have seen very recently with the McArtney murder, they were also fairly safe from prosecution because no witnesses would ever come forward, and they have become so skilled at destroying forensic evidence even in an emergency unplanned operation.
None of the above is intended to deny the courage of individual volunteers, some of whom did lose their lives on operations.

Absolute codswollop, Keith. You are trying to sentimentalise your army's role. And your justice system, I might add.. Internationally, your army is seen as the collection of scum that it is, and always was, and our aim was to expedite your withdrawal.
They who win a guerilla war, are they who remain standing on their own turf afterwards, and in that instance we definitely win hands down.

You obviously do not remember Internment, the Diplock Courts.
Or the 'Supergrasses'

Nobody was safe from prosecution and imprisonment.

And don't try to tell me that McCartney's own family do not know the circumstances in which he was killed, because if the 'dogs on the street' know, they also do.
Did it ever occur to you to try and cut through the hype and the bullshit, to get at the real story... or do you not have that kind of inquiring and discerning mind?

I will remind you that McCartney killing notwithstanding, Sinn Féin still increased their vote, or are you suggesting that there was mass intimidation and vote-rigging on the part of Sinn Féin, as they pistol whipped everybody to the Polling Station?

Get real, Keith.
You seem like an intelligent man, but you spend too much time being graphically daft.

If the odd Brit was shot in the back, it wasn't because he was on his way out of the country.
The amount of bulldozers they drove through our houses, the amount of families that were needlessy persecuted.
Every last Brit and cop that was killed in the North of Ireland deserved every bullet they got, whether it be from the front, back, side, or above.

Our Volunteers done us proud, at the very least, Keith.

The British Army are and always have been the scum of the earth, with absolutely no redeeming qualities about them whatsoever.

That was and still is my experience, and no amount of 'in defence of the Army' will ever wipe away what those bastards did to me and my people.

Perhaps the most interesting result was the election of Billy Leonard. He is a former member of the Orange Order, a former policeman, is now a Sinn Fein councillor. I saw him briefly on television and was struck by his ability to handle the halfwitted questions/jibes of the interviewer. And I wondered why this event isn't headline news.

Jimmy C,

It's easy to win at wrestling if your opponent will only play chess.
