Happy Birthday!

Margaret MacArthur

"She has been collecting and singing the traditional songs of New England's working class and farm
communities for nearly half a century. In 1985, officials of the New England arts Biennial committee
named MacArthur one of seven "living art treasures of New England". This in spite of being a relative
newcommer there. She was born in Chicago 5/7/1928 and moved to Vermont in 1948."    [see
http://www.margaretmacarthur.com and http://www.smithsonianmag.si.edu/smithsonian/issues02/jan02/peoplefile.html]

Not only one of our lovliest, but one superb ballad singer.

Happy Birthday, Margaret! We don't hear much from you at the Forum these days- you must be busy (or shy?). Anyway, I'm hoping to see you at KY Music Weekend this July. Love, Jean

I have tapes of her interviewing my grandfather in 1981. Happy birthday from a descendant of Moses Bill, Sr. And thank you for keeping my Grampa Moses' memory, songs, stories and laughter alive.

I Have met her and heard her and she tried to help me find some music I was seaeching for on line once. A wonderful, gracious human being. Get to see her if you can or get your local Society to book her.
