Subject: Happy! - May 7 From: Abby Sale Date: 07 May 05 - 08:45 AM Happy Birthday! Margaret MacArthur "She has been collecting and singing the traditional songs of New England's working class and farm communities for nearly half a century. In 1985, officials of the New England arts Biennial committee named MacArthur one of seven "living art treasures of New England". This in spite of being a relative newcommer there. She was born in Chicago 5/7/1928 and moved to Vermont in 1948." [see http://www.margaretmacarthur.com and http://www.smithsonianmag.si.edu/smithsonian/issues02/jan02/peoplefile.html] Not only one of our lovliest, but one superb ballad singer.
