Vin looks like he is on the mend, but unfortunately after discussions, it was felt that it was prudent to cancel the gig on Friday June the 3rd 2005 at Market Rasen Folk Club.

Anybody who has paid for tickets will be fully refunded.

It is hoped that in the near future, Vin will be at Market Rasen Folk Club.

I would like to wish Vin a speedy recovery and feel that he is doing the right thing on his road to recovery.

There is good news and bad in this bulletin. Vin's health has improved and he is starting to sound like his old self. He is managing to do a bit more each day and has stopped having to continually lie down to recover from each little exertion. His heart op has been classed as a complete success and he is feeling no ill effects as far as his breathing is concerned. He looks and feels fitter although he is still painfully thin. His problems are now lack of strength and stamina, the two things needed in spades to enable him to get through a concert. It is hard to gauge how quickly he will reach the appropriate level of fitness and his progress is never as fast as we expect. This is why we are continuing to have to cancel concerts. This has been a hard mental battle for Vin but his confidence is just starting to return. He seems to have had every complication going and every little glitch really demoralizes him but he is trying hard to think positively. Vin was hoping to make it to Birmingham on the 21st but it is not going to be possible. So more cancellations are involved, but not all. Vin will be going to Pannal on May 28th as a trial run and if it goes well he should be able to cope with most of his June dates. So the cancellations are as follows. May 21 Birmingham May 27 Carlisle June 1 Bishop Auckland June 2 Hereford. June 3 Market Rasen The club organizers have been very understanding about this arrangement and we are very grateful to them. The cards and good wishes are continuing to arrive and each and every one of them puts asmile on Vin's face and lifts his spirits. This has been the toughest thing he has ever faced and we really hope that he is now on the home straight.

That's good news. I've been a bit worried that Vin would leap back into action too soon, because he's always been a terribly hard worker, with a frightening schedule of performances. (And every performance guaranteed to exhaust just about any other perfomer.

But I can see that he's a man who'd find it very hard to take it easy and enjoy taking it easy.
