Don As Katie one night , by sunset light was busy spinning her thread, 'twas Tin came by with a laugh in his eye and listen to what he said I had a fling with the fairy queen, where fairies dance (something, something). Does any one know it ? When I learn the ABC notation (help:?) I'll try to write it out. -- Boron (aka Hank the aspiring bodhran player)" from here. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I'm the lad the fairies had to tea From: cnd Date: 13 Apr 21 - 07:27 PM There appears to be another thread on this song. Perhaps they could be linked or combined. link The book Elementary music by Giddings, Earhart, Baldwin, and Newton (1923) includes the song under the title "A Fairy Tale" and lists the song as being by Mary Stanhope and Arthur B. Targett. The lyrics to the second stanza there are different than the ones provided at the above links and appear to complete Joe's friends' request from link 1 above. When stars have come out, A brownie scout Has met the two on the moor, And shown the way Where fairies at play Make a ring on the grassy floor. All blue and green And of silver sheen, In circles flew The fairy crew; But it's Tim who wheels And shows his heels, Afraid, afraid; While sweet Kathleen Is chosen their queen Fair maid, fair maid! Sheet music is also at that link. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I'm the lad the fairies had to tea From: cnd Date: 13 Apr 21 - 07:29 PM Correction: they appear to match the request and lyrics from link 2 above and not the first. Also, the third from last line should read "While sweet Kathleen" |
