5/12/1785: Catherine Gordon, heiress of Gight marries "a wild young fellow," John Byron. They become
parents of Lord Byron, the versifier. Soon after the marriage, the ancient Gordon estate is sold, fulfilling
an old downside prophesy.

O whare are ye gaun, bonnie Miss Gordon,
O whare are ye gaun, sae bonnie and braw?
        Ye're gaun wi' Johnny Byron
To squander the lands o' Gight awa.

"Miss Gordon o' Gight," Ord's Bothy Songs and Ballads, 1930.

(Greig says "Gight's Lady" [Geordie] is a different, much older song and can't be attributed to any particular people.)
