This one is in the DT database... Just do a search on that songtitle.

By the way, Iron Maiden recorded a completely different song with the same title, "Charlotte the Harlot" back in 1980. Please, please tell me you are NOT interested.

and, the version in the database is QUITE bowdlerized (censored and cleaned up) That may be hard to believe from reading it, but I assure you, there are versions that would make a sailor blush. At a sing once, the topic of which was 'SEX', I even asked permission to sing it!.The book, "The Erotic Muse" has a couple of versions, and about 28-30 years ago, before I collected things carefully, a guy came to a party at my house and sang the most complete, erudite, well-constucted...and vulgar! version I ever heard! Maybe the 2nd naughtiest song I know...*grin*.

ummmm...I should NOT have posted that..was trying to be funny..truth is, a couple of friends of mine wrote a parody to "King of the Road" called. "King of the Pimps", which is TRULY offensive....something to offend everyone...I sang it ONCE in public, about 2AM when the level had dropped to rock-bottom. Tell you what...*grin* I'll email the words to Barbara and Pete M, and they can vouch for my hesitation about putting them 'in the open'...even in this enlightened forum..

(Makes me wonder about having a thread discussing the place of raunchy, ribald and risque' songs...I know it has been done a little before, but since it is such a common and contentious issue, perhaps we should air it a bit more thoroughly....hmmmm?)

my closet, dear lady, is full!! I'd like to come out of the closet, but how can I come out of it, when I can't get INTO it? ;-) (my laundry ain't dirty, it's merely 'toned' with age and use)

I know just what you mean Bill, trouble is house work can become addictive, I knew a guy who cleaned up his house once, and nine months later started all over again!

Incidentally, I wonder if the fact that we three are the only self professed fans of The Dog is relevant to the current theme?

Pete M

PS you can both share my closet if you don't mind the dog and cats!
