When I lived in Toronto in the 1970's I knew a very good folk singer and songwriter who just went by the name of "Kathlen." Her original name was Kathlen Kuklinski and her married name was Kathlen McKee. Her husband, who she split up with while I knew her, owned a science fiction book store on Queen Street. I think it was alled Bacca or Bakka.

I lost contact with her when I left Toronto and I can't find any information about her on the internet. A friend suggested I try here.

Does anyone know what became of her? Or how I can get in touch we here?

Thank you.

Sally McCalla

hey sally,

I remember that store very well, and I can visualize it now. I do beleive it was Bakka. But sorry, I don't recall Kathlen at all.

Sally,

If you still know some folks in Toronto, they might give a call to the other two names listed in the rticle and see if Kathlen is still there in the district or not. Gives you a place to start, anyway. Luck to you.

There are only two Kuklinski's in the Toronto phone directory, and the ones living on Arcot are very near to Moore Park, the site of the struggle in the article above. Maybe her, maybe her kids. The telephone number: 416-744-3914.

yours,

Peter T.

I just found out about your enquiry from 2005 and wondered who you are?
When did we know each other? Did you have a different last name?
You can email me at: katvilette-who@yahoo.ca if you'd still like to contact me.

I love the Mudcat! Things like this are always happening. Someone posts something way back when...someone else answers years later. Amazing.

Welcome to the Mudcat, Kathlen and a belated welcome to Sally. Hope you two can get in touch with one another.

All the best,

kat

Kathlen, did you ever know your Edmonton contemporary Joan MacIsaac. Mudcatter Waddon Pete wants to learn the tune for her song "When I Can't Sing". Perhaps you can help. See this thread.

Beer, that's so cool. How's about you PM Waddon Pete? Maybe you could sing it to him over the phone. Or something.

Hi Kathlen,

I recall seeing you perform at the Golem in Montreal in the 1970's. Are you still performing? If so, where? I've lived in Toronto for many years now, but don't recall seeing your name around any of the clubs here.

Sorry Bob the Postman, I didn't know Joan. Try CBC Radio Edmonton. They taped and broadcast the Edmonton Folk festival as well as the other western festivals and sometimes still replay them. Have even released some on CD.

Hi C. Ham,
the Golem was a great club and I loved playing in Montreal. Always had a good response from people there. I haven't been performing folk music since the early 80's. My focus shifted to visual and performance arts then and art is what occupies my time and mind now.

Hi Kathlen,

Do you exhibit your visual art? Or do performances of your performance art? Do you have anything coming up that we can see in Toronto?

Hi C. Ham,
no shows or exhibits coming up at this time. Working on stuff for about two years from now. Thanks for asking.
Kathlen
