Subject: Happy! - May 22 From: Abby Sale Date: 22 May 05 - 09:15 AM Happy Birthday! Arthur Conan Doyle b5/22/1859 (d7/7/1930)
"Superintendant Barrett" from the singing of Ewan MacColl on Bad Lads and Hard Cases, Riverside LP, 1957. The Stone of Scone, used to crown Scottish kings, was "removed" from Scotland to London by the English in 1296. It was "removed" from Westminister Abbey by persons unknown in 1951. There was considerable investigation led by Scotland Yard Superintendant Barrett but the results were felt inconclusive. Seems they thought they found it but then a whole bunch of identical counterfeit stones appeared. (Some stone was returned to Scotland in 1996.) Copyright © 2005, Abby Sale - all rights reserved |
