Subject: Mo Ghile Mear/Fear a Bhata From: GUEST,John Date: 23 May 05 - 03:42 PM Hi, I am looking for the lyrics, and the accompanying pronunciations, of two songs. The first is Mo Ghile Mear. I have a recording of Sting singing it with the Chieftans for their Long Black Veil album. Does anyone have any info about the origens of the song; or the written music? The same goes for Fear a Bhata. I have Andy M Stewart's collection, and it is written out in that book; however, I was wondering if there was an older version with Gaelic verses. The melody is not the problem here, I can sing the "sounds" and be musically correct...I would rather not be singing gibberish and insulting people's heritage, however. Thanks, John |

May I suggest you turn to the top right hand corner, where it says Lyric and Knowledge Search. Both songs have been discussed here with lyrics supplied and perhaps some phonetics. Start there and you can find much of what you need. |

Subject: RE: Mo Ghile Mear/Fear a Bhata From: GUEST,DannyC Date: 25 May 05 - 05:54 PM I got the same tingle from the O'Riada's recording of MGM. Sounded like a thousand voices and then a distinct voice would emerge and then the surge of the young and old chorus would return. I must go dig that out of the clabber around here and give the wheel another spin. |
