I thought perhaps Blackwalnut might have this song as she mentioned it on a previous thread. Jenny Lester is a very fine bluegrass musican/singer/songwriter.

Thanks for the tip Jim. Apparently she was inspired to write the piece after spending some time alone in a wilderness camp, if I recall correctly, as a cook and worrying about grizzleys.

Her first instinct, when she had to go get water, was to sing, but all she could come up with at the time was a somewhat loud tuneless, dum de dum dum dum.

My husband worked in a camp with Jenny Lester. She was the cook there.
She's an amazing lady with the soft spirit of an exceptional bluegrass artist.
This is my favourite song she's every written... and perhaps my favourite bluegrass song.
Her CD's are available online and in stores, here in Whitehorse, Yukon... look for Hungry Hill Bluegrass Band.

Thank you very much for posting this song. The Mudcatter who requested it, Metchosin, died in 2008 - but the rest of us will think of Metchosin as we read these lyrics.
