Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The River, Mother Nature and Me From: Jim Dixon Date: 30 May 05 - 08:31 PM Sometimes you have to bait the hook. Here's an excerpt transcribed from the sound sample at http://www.jennylester.com/Albums.html: THE RIVER, MOTHER NATURE AND ME Jenny Lester There's a place in the north where you still see the moon shine When the morning sun is high. It's a place Mother Nature takes all her children None are more willing than I. Sitting on rocks down by the river, Feeling the powers that be, You can howl at the moon, wade the deep water. There's no place that I'd rather be: Just the river, Mother Nature and me. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The River, Mother Nature and Me From: Metchosin Date: 31 May 05 - 12:20 PM Thanks for the tip Jim. Apparently she was inspired to write the piece after spending some time alone in a wilderness camp, if I recall correctly, as a cook and worrying about grizzleys. Her first instinct, when she had to go get water, was to sing, but all she could come up with at the time was a somewhat loud tuneless, dum de dum dum dum. |

She's an amazing lady with the soft spirit of an exceptional bluegrass artist. This is my favourite song she's every written... and perhaps my favourite bluegrass song. Her CD's are available online and in stores, here in Whitehorse, Yukon... look for Hungry Hill Bluegrass Band. |

Subject: ADD: The River, Mother Nature and Me (Jenny Lester From: GUEST Date: 12 May 10 - 02:52 AM Here are all the lyrics to this hypnotic song. I can appreciate it more living beside the Yukon River. THE RIVER, MOTHER NATURE AND ME (Jenny Lester) There's a place in the north where you still see the moon shine When the morning sun is high. It's a place Mother Nature takes all her children None are more willing than I. Sitting on rocks down by the river, Feeling the powers that be, You can howl at the moon, wade the deep water. There's no place that I'd rather be: Just the river, Mother Nature and me. Sitting on rocks, down by the river Feeling the powers that be. You can howl at the moon, wade the deep waters There's no place that I'd rather be Just the river, mother nature and me. If you listen at nite time You'll hear her heart beating It's a rhythm that lulls me to sleep If I wake in the city I'll dream of the river It's a feeling that I long to keep. Sitting on rocks, down by the river Feeling the powers that be. You can howl at the moon wade the deep waters. There's no place that I'd rather be. Just the river, mother nature and me. If your heart needs healing go down to the river. And quietly sit on the shore. You'll feel her run through you to mend and renew you. You'll feel life like never before. Sitting on rocks, down by the river Feeling the powers that be. You can howl at the moon, wade the deep waters. There's no place that I'd rather be. Just The river, mother nature and me. Just The river, mother nature and me. |
