I know it's not a folksong, but does anyone have the lyrics to Pure Prarie League's "Amy"? Thanks,

Pure who? Hehehe. Give a listen to Ray Bolger's evergreen ballad "Once in Love with Amy" sometime.

Pure Prairie League does this as a two-parter, beginning with "Falling in and out of Love". After the second chorus at the end of Amie, "Falling" is briefly reprised.

AMIE—Pure Prairie League

I can see why you think you belong to me.
I never tried to make you think
Or let you see one thing for yourself,
But now you're off with someone else and I'm alone.
You see, I thought that I might keep you for my own.

Amie, what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer, if I do….

Don't you think the time is right for us to find
All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time
And can you say which way we should turn, together or alone,
I can never see what's right or what is wrong,
Won't take too long.

Now it's come to what you want, you've had your way,
And all the things you thought before just faded into gray.
Can you see that I don't know it it's you or if it's me?
If it's one of us I'm sure we both will see.
Won't you look at me and tell me…

I have both the old LP by PPL that has this was on it as you described and a '45 that has it going right into Amie with the A,G,D strums opening the song.

MG trivia time:

Craig Fuller, who sang lead on this song as an original member of Pure Prarie League was later in a band called American Flyer. During the 1990s he was the lead singer with long time touring and recording band Little Feat.
