Does anyone know any news about Dave Pegg's health after having to leave Fairport Convention during US tour?

The notice I got reads from the venue where they were to have appeared in San Diego, CA reads as follows:

"On Sunday, May 28, we were notified by [Fairport's] booking agent that Dave Pegg had been forced to leave the tour due to stress-related illness, but that the three remaining members would continue on as a trio. 50 hours later, word came that all the remaining dates on the tour were being cancelled."

USA tour update

Postponed shows

The south-west and Californian legs of Fairport Acoustic Convention's current USA tour have been postponed. The band will play the remaining east coast dates – Philadelphia, Rochester NY, Saratoga Springs, Sellersville PA and Chester NY – then return to the UK. Our gigs page has full details of all shows.

What's strange about needing a break from a hectic schedule at advancing years? :0)

I'm hoping to see them on 25 June at Market Bosworth, on the battlefield.

Nothing strange about Dave needing a break, especially after the last year he has had!

I merely stated that the silence, and even lack of concern here on mudcat was strange. Stress fatigue can creep up and knock anyone off their feet, but because it is a musician in a big band, it gains publicity.

Also, I think the official website is pretty vague as to why the US tour was cut short, and that is only likely to engender rumour, IMO.

I sincerely hope Dave is well soon!!

Anything to do with the fact that he's now a grandad? His daughter is in hospital with a baby girl, according to their website. Now wouldn't you hurry home for that?

As a fan who has enjoyed a beer in the company of Peggy (especially during his touring days in Europe with Jethro Tull)I have to say that Peggy is truly one of the nicest guys in the music biz. I wish him well during this difficult time.
