Subject: LYR Req. French or French Canadian Carol From: Tim Jaques tjaques@netcom.ca Date: 19 Dec 98 - 05:11 PM I wonder if anyone has the full lyrics and the tune in ABC for this French or French-Canadian carol, and/or knows of any recording. It was apparently current in the Windsor/Detroit area in the 19th century.
La neige au chaume coud ses franges Thanks.

Subject: RE: LYR Req. French or French Canadian Carol From: Dale Rose Date: 19 Dec 98 - 05:43 PM Tim, go to this site. They have the words in English and in French. It is Noel by Théophile Gautier (1811-1872) Tell you what I do to find things that are less common. I use ProFusion Search Then I specify phrase, with summary, all engines. If it is out there, that usually brings it up. I used La neige au chaume coud ses franges for my search. This search brought up four references, all dead on, though two of them were duplicates. Of course, using phrase, if I had mistyped something, then it would have come up empty. |
