Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: Azizi Date: 23 Jun 05 - 08:18 AM I'm an arm chair traveler who may never get to see the Far North, though who knows what the future holds... Ebbie, I agree with gnu. I'd love to hear about your adventures! Please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Azizi |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: gnu Date: 23 Jun 05 - 07:42 AM Just visited Mudchat for the first time. Nope. Ebbie's Wild Alaskan Adventure Thread would be available for all to read and saved for posterity. If she agrees and if she has time. I hope she does, but I know that it may be too time consuming. Ebbie... I apologize for putting you on the spot. Don't feel pressured in any way to share your wonderful tales with us mouse potatoes who wish to live our dreams of visiting the Far North vicariously through you. |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 23 Jun 05 - 07:13 AM So why don't you go into the mudchat room then? |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: gnu Date: 23 Jun 05 - 07:05 AM YO!!! EBBIE!! Welcome back. I am anxious to hear about your adventure(s). I have always wanted to see the Yukon, Alasaka, the NWT's. Please share any highlights. A three mile, one lane tunnel you say? I'd be clawing a bit too. What about the roads? Gravel? Open all year round? Services along the way? Places to stay? Any exotic grub? Any encounters with Alaskan wildlife? or animals? Maybe you could write a few snippets as you have time... perhaps on another thread? You know, if I was a real big p****, I could start a thread and get other 'Cats to help me drag some stories out of you.... Hmmm... to be a big p****, or not to be a big p****? I'll leave it up to you. Let me know if you have time for a bi... ahem, excuse me. |

Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: gnu Date: 23 Jun 05 - 06:17 AM sIx... just when this thread is turning the corner for sure? The hate almost got flushed down the drain with gutter humour, but that got deleted by a tech problem. Now, it appears, the movement toward the light is fuelled by HTML thingies and silliness. Even my "nasty" post was meant to be sarcastic... an attempt at humour. C'mon, stick a round and contribute your wit and wisdome... stray for a while linger... at least for 1000 posts. I was wrong. Missing posts are missing and they don't count toward the total. The fact is that the count is the count and everyone is playing by the same rules, so it's still a valid competition. C'mon, you're no critter! |

Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: CarolC Date: 22 Jun 05 - 10:57 PM I just steal my stuff from other people, Alba. You can too, in the "View" drop down menu, under "Source" in Explorer and "Page Source" in Firefox. All of the HTML that people have used in the page is right there for you to steal and adapt to suit whatever naughty purposes you have in mind. ;-) And I found out that on our desktop the effects can be seen in Firefox. For some reason they can't be seen in Firefox on our laptop. Not sure why that is. |

Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: Ebbie Date: 22 Jun 05 - 07:19 PM Whew I was on vacation the last couple of weeks - up north on the Alaska road system, based in Anchorage- had a great time - so I just now finished reading this thread. Took days. My head is spinning... Way up there, someone commented that there's a lot of hurt in this thread, and I agree. Remember what it's like when there's been a bad scare and finally, it's over? Like when someone narrowly escapes death or injury or disaster? Remember how you felt when it was over? Mad,that's what. I'm no psychologist, as you can see, but that's what this feels like to me. (Now go ahead and attack me- I love you all anyway.) *G* |

Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: number 6 Date: 22 Jun 05 - 02:34 PM gnu .... I can and I did claim the 1000 post. There is no where on the Mudcat that says you can't. It doesn't matter about the 'missing posts'. That has nothing to do with me pal. sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: GUEST Date: 22 Jun 05 - 02:18 PM So is that it? Is this thread done? |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: Big Al Whittle Date: 22 Jun 05 - 08:36 AM This is all crap. What we should do, is see our dear friend Martin Gibson off with a eulogy and a wake. Something along the lines...... Martin was a gentle soul who was only among us for a short time. However he was always one who left the company with a heart warming chuckle, happier for his very existence - at times he seemed liked like a very fount of wisdom - always dispensed with a light touch, a bon mot, and sometimes a hint of ribaldry. but now he has gone. he's off in cyberspace with his beautiful family, his well paid job, his dazzling guitar technique. There will be some some amongst us who say good shuts to the smart alec bastard. there will be others who say, well at least you knew what the republicans were thinking when martin was around. but I just say goodbye Martin - we are all missing you in our different ways. And I thought maybe at this jucture we could singsomething elegaic - Luka Bloom's City of Chicago maybe, or frank Sinatra:- Start spreading the news......etc Like gene Kelly says in Singing in the Rain - dignity, dignity....at all times dignity! But we could leave it open - if you have a suggestion for a song for Martin's wake......... |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: gnu Date: 22 Jun 05 - 07:12 AM NOBODY can claim the 1000th post to this thread because a bunch of posts are missing... like the one where I was first to suggest that this thread might go over a thousand. I wish I had never said it. Too bad those posts are gone. Some good gutter humour was flushed down the drain. Except the 'mobius' one. I'm sorry. |

Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: Ron Davies Date: 21 Jun 05 - 10:48 PM This is Ron's wife Jan. I think you are all nuts. Why are you wasting your time on any BS thread, let alone this one. Life is just too short to throw away time on such utter rubbish and dribble. Get yourselves a real life, and go live it! If all of you had totally ignored Martin Gibbson, and not answered even one of his posts from the moment he appeared on Mud Cat, you would not now be posting to this. M G, who ever that twit is, must be really enjoying all this attention. You have all fallen into his nasty little game again. That's all I have to say, and I sincerely hope Ron will not be posting to this again. As I never want to hear the words Martin Gibbson, unless referring to guitars. I prefer the Gibbson SG in cherry, myself. |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: number 6 Date: 21 Jun 05 - 10:26 PM Maybe number 7 will have something to say ... but it doesn't really matter what the 7 says, does it. sIx |

Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: number 6 Date: 21 Jun 05 - 10:10 PM No one will strike the 1000 blow. Why, because I have the 1000 thread, and I've hidden away .... away were no one will ever find it. No one will have the satisfaction of making the boast of reaching it, in such a ridiculus, pathetic thread to which this has evolved. sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: GUEST,G-Spot Date: 21 Jun 05 - 10:01 PM That's right...it matters not who gets bludgeoned as long as I get to strike the 1000th blow!! GS |

I logged on to Mudcat late one night Hoping not to see a fight Soon, I clicked on "For Real, I Quit." There I saw folks in a snit. I been home sick two days this week. I can't keep my promise not to peek. Its just like when I pass a wreck I just can't help but rubberneck. I 'll swear, tommorrow I'll be good Ignore this thread just like I should But then, I find I crave to know Who it was struck the last blow. As entertainment goes it's true Long ago this thread was through I've had enough to make me sick So why, this thread do I still click? Please release me let me go 'Cuz I can't stand this thread no mo' The ghost of Martin Gibson must be pleased To read a thread that's so diseased. Janie;) |
Subject: RE: BS: For Real. I quit From: GUEST,G-Spot Date: 21 Jun 05 - 09:51 PM 1000 posts of the herd ripping and tearing one another over the departure of the one they hated. Normal people would have cheered. GS |

Maybe not so irrational after all, eh? |
