Following the successful fleet mutiny at Spithead and subsequent repression, "President of the Floating Republic," Richard Parker (1767-97) was arrested in the Channel on June 14, 1797 and instantly hanged.
Ye gods above protect the widow, and with pity look on me.
Although my Parker was hung for mutiny,
there were worse men in the wars than he.
